Localization Intern

Position Summary

This position is ideal for individuals who have the drive and desire to 'make things happen'. It requires a highly motivated individual with attention to details and a hunger to learn and solve problems. In this role, you will be collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to learn the art and craft of localizing media entertainment content that delights audiences around the world. You will learn the most important aspects of customer engagement and work with world class professionals to assist in execution of large-scale projects or high-profile titles. This position will be a hybrid position. We are headquartered in Burbank, CA.
Outcomes and Accomplishments

The goal of the internship program is to prepare the candidate to confidently enter the professional workforce and be ready to:
• Collaborate on a project as an independent contributor or as a team member
• Manage own schedule
• Know when and who to ask for help
• Understand various subtitling and dubbing workflows
• Identify various stakeholders in the workflow and know how to engage with them

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of skills and practical knowledge of the following:
• Practical knowledge of MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook
• A good grasp of post-production and emerging media production workflows
• Concepts and practical application of Scheduling work and Project Management
• Knowledge of various media content types

In this role, the ideal candidate will learn the know-how of end-to-end media localization workflows and subsequently perform the following tasks. Guidance, instructions, and sign-off step will be provided for all tasks:
• Interpret incoming details of project specifications to ensure projects are set up and executed accurately
• Kick off a localization project by creating an order in the system and sending out a work order to global production teams
• Assist in performing asset research, or asset pre-qual (as applicable), to evaluate if assets received are workable
• Assist in creating project schedules and task assignments to internal and/or external resources and vendors
• Review various technical QC reports to evaluate issue criticality

At the end of the program, the candidate will:
• Know various content types and distribution windows (theatrical, OTT, traditional broadcast)
• Have an understanding and appreciation of what timelines and SLAs mean and how they apply to specific projects
• Have basic to intermediate knowledge of various workflows applicable to subtitling and dubbing
• Assist with end-to-end localization project coordination
• Evaluate various source assets and determine if they are workable or not
• Identify various localization assets and know their application, e.g., Dialogue List, Localization List, dubbed audio, M&E stem, English subtitle template, forced subtitle, language subtitle
• Identify various stakeholders and professionally communicate with them per project requirements
• Know how to efficiently use various tools required to execute on a project
• Know how to be a team player
