About the Role & Program

Ever wonder what it's like to work in a fast-paced newsroom? ABC News NY Bureau is seeking an intern who will learn the ins and outs of what it takes to work in a breaking-news environment. This internship is designed to introduce and engage undergraduate students with a passion for broadcast journalism to the daily workings of a 24-hour global news organization. This position is perfect for those who enjoy a fast-paced atmosphere and have a desire to gain experience working in many different stages of production.

The approximate dates of this internship are September 2025 through early January 2026.

What You Will Do
• Provide production support to the ABC News NY Bureau Assignment Desk (answering phones, booking travel) and ABC NewsOne (editing, video research, live news production)
• Pitch stories, research, make editorial calls, log video feeds, and transcribe tapes 
• Write stories or livestream for ABC News Digital platforms 

Required Qualifications & Skills
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television production, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing
• Experience using Microsoft Office
• Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
• Experience working in collaborative environments, and researching and/or using a range of tools to acquire information and present findings
• Experience video editing with Avid or Adobe Premiere

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience writing for either online or print publications
• Previous internship experience in a professional newsroom setting

Education
• Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
• Junior or Senior year preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are September 2025 through early January 2026
• Fully available to work 40 hours per week (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights, weekends, and/or possible overnights)
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program​ in the New York, New York area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work ​

The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.00 per hour.
