Job Description

The Workday Application Engineer will design, develop, and support the lifecycle of various HR modules in the Workday SaaS with an emphasis in supporting integrations to internal and other 3rd party applications and processes. This includes design, development, testing and production deployment of various types of functionality and integrations. Integration expertise in data interfaces between Workday and other applications including Microsoft Dynamics AX, the BI/data warehouse, on and off-premise data sources, AD and service providers is preferred. The candidate will be instrumental in delivering key elements of our Workday projects, troubleshoot production issues related to integrations and Workday performance or application configurations.

This role will work within the technology team, interacting with subject matter experts, the HRIS and Business teams, project managers as well as vendors for integrations with 3rd party applications. This Workday Application Engineer will collaborate with the technology and business teams to track new features in Workday service releases to understand the impact to the Nexstar environment. Additionally, this position will require the Application Engineer to create and execute test scripts to evaluate interface and other functionality stability against new releases of Workday.

It is imperative that the candidate have solid experience developing, deploying and maintaining custom integrations using Workday Studio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide estimates on effort, gather requirements, build solution using the Workday Integration Tool Kit - Core Connectors, EIBs, Document Transforms, or Workday Studio
• Performs Software Engineer duties on the Workday product suite, specializing and leading functionality enhancement and integration work for a variety of functional areas such as HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, Talent, and Absence Management
• Strong knowledge of on premise and SaaS architectures
• Design, document, develop and support custom new/broken functionality and integrations, processing schedules, calc fields, reports and workflows
• QA testing, EIB configurations and processing
• Collaborate with business teams and prioritize and manage the environment for Nexstar
• Partner with Project Management office to ensure all projects are delivered within scope, budget and adhere to company governance and change management processes
• Assist with maintaining roadmaps for upgrades and maintenance for the production and development environments
• Preparing change management documentation
• Document policies and procedures for Workday support tasks and change management
• Share knowledge and information through regular communications and facilitation
• Has ability to work at his/her own direction and balance competing priorities and customer needs
• Collaborate with team members to research, identify and validate issue resolutions

REQUIREMENTS & SKILL
• Workday certification preferred but not required
• Bachelor's degree in IT/Engineering preferred; this is a highly techno-functional position
• 5+ years of IT and business/industry work experience in technology
• 5+ years' experience with ERP applications like Workday
• 4+ years of hands-on technical developer experience
• Functional experience with hands-on administration and implementation of Workday HCM, Financials
• Highly motivated eager to work with new technologies
• Must have strong working knowledge of ERP environments, with emphasis on HCM business process flows
• 5+ years of hands on experience with Workday business processes and the WorkDay integration tool set including Core Connectors, Studio, EIB integrations, custom reports, and calculated fields
• Business Process set up and maintenance
• Experience administering integration processing schedules
• Experience with configuring and using Workday API's
• Proficiency in XSLT: Deep understanding and experience coding, troubleshooting, and testing XPATH and XSLT. XML, SOAP and REST Based Services
• Familiarity with and the ability to navigate the Workday Community
• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, suggesting solutions to the Business Process and Leadership teams
• Must have experience working within an agile development environment
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and teaming skills
• Excellent written and documentation skills with attention to detail
