Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of U.S. television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Will coordinate news coverage and assignments for field camera crews and reporters. Monitor police scanners, social media and other sources for breaking news stories and related developments on stories of interest. Interface with camera crews and reporters to respond to and cover news stories. Monitor wire services, newspapers, social media, and other sources to gather story ideas. Monitor competitive news sources to ensure FOX11 is competitive on local news coverage. Work closely with News Managers and newscast producers on story development and coverage angles. Ingest video and media elements needed for news coverage and stories. Post to FOX11 social media and digital platforms as needed and assigned. Monitor and manage crew and reporter shifts to ensure management of overtime.

2 to 5 years' experience as an assignment editor at a local television station, cable or network news division or equivalent newsroom experience preferred. Geographic knowledge and understanding of the greater Los Angeles TV Market preferred. Excellent people skills , communication skills and multi-tasking skills. Familiarity with newsroom computer systems, particularly iNews preferred. Working knowledge of web workflow in producing, posting and uploading video and graphics. Ability and willingness to work nights, overnights, weekends, holidays as well as extended hours during breaking news situations. College degree preferred or commensurate work experience.
