Director, Creative Compute and Storage

Job Description

The Studio & Corporate Infrastructure team is responsible for delivering the compute, storage and network infrastructure at Netflix offices, studios, animation hubs and creatives facilities around the world. In support of our mission to entertain the world, we enable our internal users, creatives, production teams and content partners to do amazing things at Netflix.

We are looking for an engineering director to join the Creative Compute and Storage team. This role leads a new and growing organization that is responsible for reliable operation, development, engineering and evolution of Netflix's internal global infrastructure platform that supports our creatives in making and telling their stories.

In this role
• Build, lead, develop and mentor a team of senior engineers across multiple technical disciplines, time zones and geographies.
• Drive the vision and strategy on how we deliver our creative infrastructure platform
• Partner with engineer teams, business and technical leaders, and partner teams to build and operate a global infrastructure platform at scale
• Seek opportunities to simplify and standardize designs, operations, and deployment plans; focus on reducing complexity and providing performance, agility, and scalability
• Challenge team members to design and implement solutions that push the bounds of current use cases and consider the future ways infrastructure may change the way technology is used by Netflix employees and creative teams

About you
• Have in-depth technical knowledge and experience with the implementation, design, monitoring, and troubleshooting of large scale distributed platforms and networks
• Sharp assessment skills with the ability to decipher ''wants'' versus ''needs'' and comfortable negotiating prioritization accordingly
• Deep understanding of how to drive effectiveness and efficiency through automation, tooling and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience driving project teams, identifying milestones and tracking deliverables
• See a problem or opportunity, take ownership and act on it independently
• Collaborate and manage efforts with peers and teams across responsibility areas, languages, geography and time zones
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
