Overview and Responsibilities

The VP, Current Series Animation/Executive-In-Charge (EIC) leads all aspects of the production of various series assigned to him/her – from series greenlight to final delivery of each episode The EIC role has two core components: that of Creative Executive (managing/influencing the series creative process) and that of Network Executive (managing/influencing Nickelodeon business processes related to the series).

To succeed in this role, the EIC must exhibit strength and skill in each component of the job, both of which are of equal importance. The EIC must be an excellent communicator who can partner with and influence creative and business constituencies who do not report to him/her to deliver their best possible work and improve the value of the series to Nickelodeon. Responsibilities:

As Creative Executive : Lead the creative process to bring series episodes to life, partnering with show creators/EPs, and Nickelodeon departments including but not limited to: Development, Production, Casting, Programming, Digital, Marketing, BALA, MML and Standards & Practices
• Work hand-in-hand with Development to successfully transition the shows from pilot to ongoing series and then guide the creative vision going forward
• Handle ongoing relationship with shows' Creators, EPs and Key Leadership
• Provide creative notes and influence series creative direction on behalf of the network on all facets of the production process - including premises, outlines, scripts, casting, storyboards, animatics, rough cuts, design, music, and audio mixes
• Partner with show creators/EPs and Production on key series staffing – for writers, directors, creative producers, lead designers and composers
• Partner with BALA to make key leadership deals
• Partner with Production to staff the crew and ensure that all episodes are delivered on schedule and on budget
• Work closely with BALA & MML to ensure that all necessary and desired IP rights are properly secured (trademarks, music clearances, etc.)
• Partner with Casting on guest casting, diversity casting, and stunt casting opportunities with the show creator/EP
• Engage with our Nick teams and show teams to manage the creation/delivery of short-form video content for our digital platforms
• Partner with various Nick teams to create and oversee all ancillary work for the shows such as: consumer products, publishing, games, social, press, and panels.
• Provide creative feedback and direction on all ancillary content so that it is consistent with and builds upon the show's creative vision
• Partner with Talent, Press, Production and BALA to anticipate and delicately resolve concerns and other creative issues as they arise
• Provide creative guidance and quality control for each series for its entire run of production

As Network Executive : Motivate and collaborate with various Nickelodeon business colleagues to provide all necessary resources across the network to deliver episodes successfully to our audiences - while also partnering with key Nickelodeon departments including Marketing, Research, Programming, Media Planning, Brand Creative/Promos, Digital, International, Consumer Products and Press.
• Partner with Programming, Marketing and Media Planning to initiate the greenlight to launch timeline and help lead and oversee each phase of this process
• Clearly communicate series creative to all network departments, while helping to inspire colleagues to focus on the series and support its success with ingenuity and well-executed initiatives throughout the series life cycle
• Ensure that all network departments have everything they need from the show unit to succeed; facilitate the timely delivery of show creative assets to bring network plans to life
• Identify the most marketable and press worthy moments springing from storylines and/or casting of episodes in production. Help rally the network to organically develop marketing and promotional ideas and plans around these opportunities.
• Provide notes/ideas on the creative integrity of all network communication plans involving the series - including all promotions, consumer marketing, press and social initiatives
• As the network ambassador to the show unit, communicate priorities and ongoing network plans to show creators/EPs – alleviate concerns, resolve disagreements and facilitate alignment between the network and the creators/EPs
• Partner with network business departments including Consumer Marketing, Consumer Products, Integrated Marketing, and Recreation to ensure that the development of products, attractions, tours and promotions are as inspiring, creatively consistent and commercially successful
• Also partner with our International team to help deliver and brand creative to fulfill regional and global objectives for our shows
• Represent Nick at industry festivals and conventions, along with panel participation as needed

Basic Qualifications
• Love of kids and family television with experience in animation production
• Keen understanding of Nickelodeon brand and culture
• 10+ years relevant work experience – in development, current series, and/or animation production at a network or studio
• Strong relationships throughout the creative community - particularly with agents, writers, artists, producers and show-runners
• A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the kids' marketplace and competitive landscape.
• Strong creative sensibility and point of view
• Strong leadership skills; comfort with leading people and processes without formal reporting accountability
• Strong diplomatic/negotiation/influencing skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills, coupled with ability to listen actively and effectively
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand and assimilate qualitative and quantitative research data
• Proactive; driven self-starter
• Detail and deadline oriented
• Highly collaborative; comfortable working with creative people and business people at all levels of seniority and experience

Additional Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Flexible, with a flair for ''out of the box'' thinking
• Ability to perform well under pressure
