Responsibilities
CNBC is building a new team for a new one-hour evening news program titled The News with Shepard Smith, launching this Fall, and airing weekdays at 7pm ET. In this newscast, you will be an integral part to help widen our aperture to cover the most significant news stories of the day.

What you'll do:
The writer will be responsible for organizing and crafting accurate, unbiased, and engaging news content aligned with the stated mission of the news program. The material will be written in the voice and style of the anchor, and in a manner that will be easily understood by a television audience. The candidate must have strong reporting, editorial, and journalism skills, along with a deep knowledge of world and national news stories and events.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Understand and adhere to the editorial standards and practices of CNBC
• Research, source, pitch and write concise stories for television
• Deliver written content under deadline pressures set by the Executive Producer
• Write teases, bumps, copy, promos, and short packages to video and graphics
• Contribute to a highly engaging, multi-platform news organization
• Special projects, as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements
What you'll bring:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• At least 5 years of general news writing experience at the local and/or national television level
• Exceptional journalism and reporting skills; and ability to write a story concisely to video
• Basic understanding of television production
• Ability to set editorial priorities
• Experience writing in a fast-paced, control room environment
• Knowledge of current world and national news events
• Ability to work in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and/or New York, NY
