The Position

Position Overview
The Regional VP Finance will play a key leadership role in the LatAm organization, acting as a strategic business partner to the MD, LatAm Networks and the regional senior management team. The VP Finance directs and oversees all aspects of finance, providing financial oversight and helping to drive financial performance for the regions. The role includes direct oversight of the Spanish LatAm joint venture (SPL), non-JV central costs and consolidation of the Brazil joint venture. The role manages the entire finance function which is a team of 26 people (4 Direct reports). The VP Finance would also work closely with the MD/CFO of the Brazil joint venture.

Responsibilities

Business Leadership
• Serve as a strategic advisor working closely with MD, Networks to provide insightful views into the region's operations and financial performance
• Support the MD, Networks to define the strategy for the region and ensuring financial awareness is built into regional decision-making activities
• Work with ad sales and affiliate teams to understand and drive performance
• Responsible for leading deal analysis with sales strategy team and maintaining deal renewal process with affiliate sales representatives
• Responsible for ensuring that affiliate representative / affiliate requirements for deals are communicated to wider LatAm Networks team, particularly legal, marketing and programming acquisitions
• Responsible for managing understanding monthly billing / collections variances and planning affiliate sales revenues
• Liaison with internal finance groups (SPL, Brazil JV, London HQ, NY HQ, tax, etc. as required)
• Ensure the appropriate intercompany contracts, allocations and arrangements between NBCUniversal, its Joint Ventures and OpCos are in place and active
• Manage all financial aspects of pan regional programming acquisitions (asset creation, AR/AP, amortization & planning)

Controllership Leadership
• Drive controllership best practice across the region and ensure accurate financial bookings and accurate/timely reporting of financials and balance sheet reviews
• Responsible for US GAAP accounting records and compliance of the statutory books with respect to local statutory and taxation legislation
• Drive simplification and automation of financial processes
• Ensure financial policy and procedure compliance, including SOX reviews

Financial Planning & Analysis
• Manage FP&A requirements, incl. consolidation of central, SPL and Brazil reporting
• Lead all forecasting cycles (budgets, pacing, estimate updates, long range plans) LatAm
• Prepare for and lead operating review process for the region
• Ensure timely & accurate reporting of variances & implementation of corrective measures.
• Provide continuous risk and opportunity assessment and timely communication and advice
• Forecast programming amortization for the region


Qualifications/Requirements
The Person

Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of financial and operational experience
• Leadership and financial partnering in a dynamic matrixed organization
• Work experience within the LatAm region
• Must be fully bilingual in English/Spanish, both oral and written

Desired Qualifications
• Deep understanding of and experience in the Media & Entertainment industry preferred – familiarity with affiliate network sales a plus
• Demonstrated Financial Acumen and ability to translate and present effectively to the business
• Strong influencing and interpersonal communication skills across different disciplines, cultures and languages to ensure effective stakeholder management
• Strong people leadership skills, ability to lead, develop and motivate teams.
• Ability to cope in a fast, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities
• Track record of driving simplification and process improvement
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• An advanced degree (MBA, equivalent) is preferred.
