Job Description

As a member of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You'll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you'll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.

As the European Public Affairs Lead for the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team at YouTube, you will be responsible for driving consistent and meaningful engagement with key policy stakeholders in Europe. You will work directly with the Corporate Projects team lead and in collaboration with cross-functional regional stakeholders (e.g. YouTube's GAPP, Business, Product, Trust and Safety, PR, and Marketing teams) to develop and deploy public policy campaigns and tools that improve stakeholder trust and perception. In this role, you will be an expert in the policy environment and stakeholders affecting YouTube's business operations in Europe, specifically the UK, France, Germany, and Brussels. You will also lead the cross-functional internal process for identifying and strategically engaging with key external stakeholders to further YouTube's corporate reputation and policy priorities.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Resonsibilities:
• Develop and execute a strategy for consistent and meaningful engagement with key policy stakeholders (e.g. policymakers, think tanks, NGOs, academics, industry leaders, etc.) in EMEA.
• Work directly with the Corporate Projects Lead and cross-functional team members to develop and deploy public policy campaigns and tools (e.g. collateral materials, research, and events) that improve stakeholder trust and perception.
• Ensure stakeholder list and engagement strategy is focused on the most relevant and impactful individuals and organizations that influence YouTube's ability to operate.
• Manage the cross-functional process for development, tracking, and updating of the Americas' stakeholder engagement list.
• Support messaging and external campaigns around regulatory issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, or relevant industry associations.
• Experience working with current and emerging policy trends relating to online content platforms and technology.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience leading and collaborating with internal cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver exceptional work products.
• Experience developing outreach and tracking tools including collateral materials, research, events, and campaigns.
• Experience executing cross-functional projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of YouTube's product offerings and functionality.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with the ability to exercise good decision making in a changing and sometimes stressful environment.
