Principal Engineer, Ambient Computing and Voice Experiences

Job Description

As Principal Engineer for YouTube music's Ubiquity and Intelligent Voice Interfaces team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical vision and strategy for integration of YouTube Music with across the full spectrum of first-party and third-party software and hardware products, including smart speakers and screens, wearable devices, smart TVs, connected cars, smart headphones/earbuds, as well as navigation, fitness and home entertainment apps.

You will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the platform that enables scalable development, allowing new device integrations to be built with minimal engineering effort. You will be the overall tech lead for music strategy and execution across Google products and systems. In this context, you will partner with teams across Google, including Assistant, Nest, Android OS and Google AI to plan and launch these experiences.

Working with Product and Engineering leads across YouTube and Google, you will design and build the next generation of ambient audio experiences. These will allow users to seamlessly shift their listening sessions across devices, anticipating their needs and providing assistive experiences that deliver the right music on the right devices at the right time.

Voice and AI-driven conversational interfaces are a key part of our strategy. Working with the Google Assistant and Google Research teams, you will have responsibility for integrating conversational capabilities into our product, across all relevant devices.
