As a Data Scientist with the YouTube Youth Responsibility efforts, you will partner with Program Manager (PM) and the Engineering (Eng) team to improve YouTube's ability to provide a safe, high-quality experience for kids and families. The YouTube Youth Responsibility team strives to be a positive influence by offering smarter, age-appropriate recommendations for videos.
You will join our efforts to support families through a portfolio of ML-based products designed with their safety in mind-like content understanding classifiers, recommendations models, and Search and Discovery treatments. You will drive innovative approaches that ensure time on YouTube is always time well spent, with top-notch quality and safety at its core.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Resonsibilities:
• Perform analysis by utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Using comprehensive technical knowledge, use custom data infrastructure or existing data models.
• Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Format, re-structure, and validate data to ensure quality.
• Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support business reviews with cross-functional/organizational leadership team. Translate analysis results to business insights or product improvement opportunities.
• Provide investigative insights and recommendations to influence product feature development decisions, and with some guidance.
• Build and prototype analysis and business cases to provide insights. Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of work experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL) (or 2 years work experience with a Master's degree).
Preferred qualifications:
• Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5 years of work experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL).
• Experience in Trust and Safety or Policy.
• Ability to drive family content recommendations improvements for kids, teens, and families on YouTube.
