WVLT is located in beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition to producing 50 hours of newscasts each week on CBS affiliate WVLT, the station takes advantage of its co-owned CW-affiliate to expend its news audience by producing two hours of additional weekday morning news and nightly 10 p.m. newscasts.

Job Summary/Description:

The Chief Engineer is responsible to manage the daily operations of the Engineering and IT departments and is responsible for all broadcast technology and equipment maintenance at the station.

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

1. Oversee and manage all areas of the Engineering and IT Departments
2. Maintains all broadcast equipment for the station, and assigns staff on projects ensuring deadlines are met
3. Works with the justification and budgeting of Capital Expenditures with the Department Heads, and with the corporate team to manage capital projects to budgets after approval.
4. Responsible to oversee station compliance with FCC, local, state and federal regulations that apply to the station
5. Responsible to develop and implement new technologies/infrastructure for the station with guidance from the corporate team
6. Oversee building maintenance and station phone/security system infrastructure including vendor selection for projects

Qualifications/Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Broadcasting or related field or an equivalent combination of education/work related experience
* Minimum three years hands on experience with digital electronics in a broadcast environment including digital transmitters, microwave equipment, fiber connectivity, production setups, A?V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics and editing systems
* Proficiency in evaluating, selecting, installing and maintaining broadcast equipment and information technology systems
* Proven ability to prioritize assignments, communicate effectively, Meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Available to work various hours/days including overnights, weekends and holidays as needed
