Director of Community Affairs

WPBF 25 the Hearst-owned ABC affiliate in the West Palm Beach, FL television market is seeking a Director of Community Affairs to help us maintain and nurture strong community partnerships and seek out new relationships that complement our brand. Our ideal team member will have excellent organization, communication, writing skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with both individuals and organizations. The DCA will be the principal ambassador, manager, and executor of all community initiatives. This position is responsible for the management and leadership role on all station sanctioned community projects, local events, festivals and (501-C3) partnerships, including the creation of new community initiatives. This position will work collaboratively with all departments on all platforms including: WPBF 25, WPBF.com, Estrella TV West Palm Beach, and the True Crime Network. Responsibilities also include serving as a key member of the WPBF 25 Editorial Board.

Job Responsibilities:
• Develop a strategy to build and maintain programs and activities that will have a positive impact on the local community and our leadership position within it.
• Build and nurture relationships with members of the community, key individuals, and other organizations.
• Be the direct liaison between the station and all of its community/public affairs events and partnerships.
• Work closely to support and lead WPBF 25, True Crime Network or Estrella TV WPB community events in addition to seeking out new relationships and partnerships within the community.
• Manage all communication, coordination, and implementation of partnership commitments in consult with the Creative Services Director and other key department heads.
• Oversee Public Service Announcements coordination, press releases, and community social media postings.
• Coordinate all talent appearances in conjunction with News Director & Creative Services Director to maximize exposure to market.
• Work closely with other departments to achieve community affairs objectives.
• Maintain consistent visibility within the community with key station partners and events.
• Serve in key role on WPBF 25's Editorial Board.

Qualification Requirements:
• Ideal candidate should have prior experience working in public relations, television, or a related field.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with great interpersonal talents, and ability to work well as part of a team.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to multitask.
• Military training and experience will be considered.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Education:
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.
