In 2019, WIS commissioned Columbia's CW on 10.2, which now provides a full schedule of programming and WIS newscasts, including a nightly 10pm newscast. The historic and iconic WIS building is located two blocks from the South Carolina Statehouse and just across the street from the sprawling University of South Carolina. Outdoor enthusiast relish the areas many golf courses that South Carolina has to offer along with boating and fishing on the large 50,000 acre Lake Murray recreational area in Lexington County. Lake Murray is the largest recreational reservoir in the world.

Job Summary/Description:

WIS in Columbia, SC is seeking a Marketing Director. This is a department head leadership position, managing the station's award-winning marketing and promotions staff and is the top creative consultant for exceeding client expectations and managing the stations marketing initiatives. The position serves as the primary leader in developing and executing the station's marketing strategy to drive ratings growth. An innovative, strategic, and creative thinker capable of promoting the image of our brands.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Work closely with General Manager and other department heads to manage and execute initiatives to enhance the stations internal and external image.
- Work directly with Sales Managers, Account Executives, and clients to complete commercial and station projects.
- Work closely with News Director and news staff to develop and execute powerful image spots that reflect the direction of the station's news brand. Market all station social media initiatives, working closely with news and digital teams to identify daily opportunities to reach target audience. Oversee station public relations, station news releases and community partnerships.
- Be aware of rules and regulations regarding commercial content.
- Develop and foster ongoing positive professional relationships with clients and the public.
- Create and oversee the stations marketing plan.
- Plan and execute an outside media plan which may include cable, radio, bus, and digital media.
- Manage and oversee local event sponsorships.
- Review and understand the ratings systems.
- Facilitate ongoing training for your staff to ensure they are up to date on the latest promotion and commercial production techniques and technology.
- Review marketing plan with VP/GM quarterly.
- Manage and achieve local production revenue budget.
- Create and manage annual operational budget for the department.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing or a related field and proven working experience in digital and/or social media marketing required, including knowledge of Facebook ads manager, display advertising, web design. Proficiency in digital video production and editing preferred.
- 6+ years related experience, including internships.
- Ability to manage people, fostering a solution-oriented, teamwork environment.
- Creative decision-making skills.
- Expertise with design applications within the Adobe Creative Cloud, including After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Willingness to work flexible or varied hours, including nights and weekends.
- Time management skills and the aptitude to communicate and work cohesively with many different types of individuals towards common goals.
- The ideal candidate has a leadership mindset and is comfortable assuming the responsibility of ownership of the station's marketing goals. Previous management experience of at least 3 years is preferred. He or she will have an impressive reel of completed video projects and proven track record of hitting deadlines.
- The individual must be able to perform various physical tasks, including lifting 50 lbs.
