Job Description
WDKY in Lexington, Kentucky is looking for a full time Technical Director. We are building a brand-new newsroom and the Technical Director will direct various live and taped broadcasts and productions, including remote locations. The Technical Director will also create graphics and shot sheets for newscasts. This person is responsible for the final product being developed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Physically and verbally direct live broadcasts
• Design various graphic elements for broadcasts
• Adjust to breaking news or changing circumstances
• Direct/TD special programming and/or projects
• Work as a liaison between news department and production department
• Performs other duties such as assistant direct and studio camera operator.

Requirements & Skills:
• Four year degree in communication or equivalent experience.
• Three years experience directing in a television or production facility
• Knowledge of state of the art equipment and techniques used in producing and directing live and taped broadcasts
• Valid drivers license is required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The Technical Director must be able to stand, sit, reach, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, and work
outdoors with various weather conditions and indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment or items weighing up to 25 pounds.
