WATE 6 On Your Side, the Nexstar ABC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee has an immediate opening for a Full Time Technical Media Operator to join our award-winning team. We are seeking a motivated, dependable, well-organized individual with the ability to multi-task and display good judgment in live broadcast situations to join our production team. This position pulls from traditional studio, Camera operation, Graphics Operation, Directing, and Technical Directing.

A successful candidate will have proficient computer skills, fundamental knowledge of the production process for Live News Broadcast, in studio and field production. An understanding of audio board operation, video switchers, and digital video workflow. Strong communication skills and success in working with a group is a must. Experience with in-person customer service, working with WATE staff and commercial clients to successfully manage projects from beginning to end.

Skills to support local programming involving, editing on NLE system, and shooting video using a verity of methods for creative and impactful storytelling will be required. Understanding of basic field lighting, camera operation, and audio for client driven projects is vital to this position.

Experience with Ross Overdrive production automation, and Florical master control software a plus. Minimum of 3 years of professional production experience in a broadcast environment or equivalent is required.

Candidates must be available to work a variety of different shifts, (early mornings, nights, weekday, or weekends). Must also be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, and make decisions that impact the results of co-workers. Work in close proximity to others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions or outdoors during remote broadcasts. In addition, must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Must be able to climb 12' ladder. Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
