Job Description:

Job Title: Senior Analyst, Synch Licensing – Revenue Assurance

A little bit about our team:

The Recorded Music Revenue Assurance team is responsible for the tracking, recognition, application, and analysis of revenues and artist royalties derived from third-party licensing, primarily revenues related to synchronization licensing, soundtracks, samples, compilations, and licensed merchandise across WMG's family of labels globally. We support a number of teams across WMG in the execution of their responsibilities, including the licensing administration teams, frontline and catalog royalties, royalty audit, legal and rights enforcement, accounting operations, and label business affairs, as well as external parties such as licensing clients and artist management. As WMG's footprint continues to expand in support of our growing roster of groundbreaking artists, our team's responsibilities are always evolving.

Your role:

The Synch Licensing Senior Analyst oversees all aspects of recorded music synchronization licensing revenue processing for WMG US from start to finish. Through collaboration with the Visual Media Licensing team, clients, and internal records and databases, the Synch Licensing Senior Analyst will support the Revenue Assurance team in the accurate processing, reporting, and analysis of revenues and expenses related to recorded music synch licensing.

Here you'll get to:
• Own the recorded music synch licensing revenue process for WMG in its entirety, including accurately identifying and matching incoming payments to corresponding synch licenses; allocating revenues received to invoiced fees; and closely supporting the WMG Visual Media Licensing team and other internal label clients
• Research unidentified accountings using various internal resources and by contacting third-party licensees, clients, and/or other vendors; professionalism and discretion is a must
• Prepare and review weekly licensing entries to account for all collected domestic synch revenue by reconciling cash activity to invoices and deal terms, including track, artist, and project information, as well as artist financials and special handling instructions
• Communicate and work with the international team and foreign WM affiliates to ensure accurate international transfers, occasionally including more than only recorded music synch; prepare a monthly licensing entry to account for the transferred revenues and inform any relevant teams of these monies
• Partner with accounting operations to ensure accurate and timely allocation and recordation of synch licensing cash payments
• Track royalty-bearing synch deals and perform reconciliations of substantial quarterly royalty statements against incoming payments
• Carefully compile payment allocation support for all domestic revenues received and support VML in ensuring all systems accurately reflect actual cash
• Proactively research, resolve, and process any unallocated cash as related to synch; collaborate with VML to obtain necessary documentation in the event of refunds
• Provide accurate ad hoc reports as related to recorded music synch licensing revenues, licenses, and invoices for various internal stakeholders as needed
• Manage any other duties and tasks related to the team's role and responsibilities that may be assigned by senior management from time to time

About you:
• You have 3-5 years of experience in music and/or the entertainment industry, particularly with a background in recorded music licensing and/or artist royalties
• You have a core understanding of basic industry concepts and familiarity with contractual terminology and structure
• You have a thorough understanding of core finance and accounting principles
• You demonstrate strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel (including pivot tables and vlookups), Word, and Outlook applications; familiarity with Microsoft Office's Access application is strongly preferred
• You work well independently and as part of a team
• You have exceptional attention to detail and sense of accountability
• You demonstrate professionalism and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• You possess excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
• You have strong computer skills, including strong data entry and data analysis (with an emphasis on accuracy and problem solving)
• You are able to meet deadlines consistently, effectively, and accurately while working under pressure and time restraints
• You are able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects at any given time
• You demonstrate familiarity with SAP financial applications (preferred, but not required)
• You are passionate about the success of Warner Music Group's artists

We'd love it if you also had:
• A strong passion for music across a wide array of different genres
• Background in process improvement and automation; experience with Microsoft Excel VBA ispreferred but not required
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; major in finance, accounting, business, or mathematics preferred
