The Job

The Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) oversees and grows the entire portfolio of WarnerMedia television businesses, including worldwide production, traditional and digital distribution, and broadcasting.

WBTVG divisions produce live-action dramas and comedies, animated series, and unscripted & alternative programming for traditional broadcast networks, cable channels and the first-run syndication marketplace, as well as for subscription/on-demand platforms and digital media outlets.

Global Business Services (GBS) is WarnerMedia global shared services accounting team. The team serves to provide efficient and scalable global finance and accounting services to the WarnerMedia Group of Companies. We are looking for a Senior Manager to support Television Production Finance, Digital Networks Group, and WB Animation. Candidate must be proactive, able to critically think and work independently.

Duties to include general ledger stewardship, month end closing and reporting, consolidation of actual results and preparation and review of all financial statements, by title reporting, footnotes and disclosures. Duties also include reconciliation ownership of production systems and feeds to/from SAP and working with the Service Delivery Center (Capgemini), Business Units and Consolidated Financial Reporting group in support of the closing process.

The Daily

TV Production (TVP), Alloy and Theater Ventures (ThV)
• Responsible for all month & quarter end close activities such as:
• Pro-active planning by establishing and ensuring the overall timelines and accuracy of the month end close process; ensuring the activities are in compliance with SOX key controls.
• Review key schedules provided by Business Units (Revenue Recognition & Accrual, Complete Not Release, Development Cost Write Off, Capitalized Film Costs, Term Deal Commitment, Bad Debt Reserve, Equity Investment, Imputed Interests) for reasonableness and to obtain a solid understanding of the operations.
• Review all journal entries, Complete Not Release analysis and episodic data input prepared by direct reports or SDC team for accuracy.
• Prepare or review By-Title analysis for TVP.
• Review trial balance analysis for TVP, Alloy and ThV.
• Review By-Title and Financial Verification Grids and support for TVP, Alloy and ThV.
• Prepare or review TVP P&L COC, Cash Flow Cause of Changes, and Balance Sheet Flux.
• Review Alloy and ThV P&L Cause of Changes and Balance Sheet Flux prepared by direct reports.
• Review Footnotes, Supplemental schedules and other required schedules for TVP, Alloy and ThV.
• Responsible for all day-to-day activities such as review of miscellaneous invoices and timely collections on outstanding ones; cash clearing; account reconciliations; SAP projects monitoring/settlement; C-item issues.
• Prepare and review supporting schedules for Cadency reconciliations
• Work closely with SDC team to ensure and monitor Cadency configurations are accurate and updated in timely manner
• Prepare and review AR securitization reporting and other required schedules
• Lead process improvement projects across TVP, Alloy and ThV.
• Support requests from EY auditors or Compliance team.
• Troubleshoot and provide guidance to direct reports and SDC team.

Digital Networks Group (DNG) and WB Animation (WBA)
• Responsible for all month & quarter end close activities such as:
• Pro-active planning by establishing and ensuring the overall timelines and accuracy of the month end close process.
• Review the reasonableness of the data provided by Fullscreen for Machinima activities
• Review all DNG and WBA journal entries prepared by direct reports or SDC team for accuracy.
• Work closely with business unit, provide guidance to SDC team, and BU Finance group
• Review trial balances for reasonableness.
• Review Financial Verification Grids and support
• Prepare P&L COC, Cash Flow Cause of Changes, and Balance Sheet Flux
• Prepare Footnotes, Supplemental Schedules, and other required schedules
• Lead process improvement projects
• Troubleshoot and provide guidance to direct reports, SDC team, and the Business Units.

Act as liaison for the GBS in connection with the Business Unit, FP&A, and Financial Operations organizations, retained Business Unit departments (sales, marketing, business affairs, etc.) and various WB Corporate departments (CFR, FPP, Tax, MIS, Treasury, Legal, Participations).

Develop staff into mature financial advisors with a customer service orientation toward the dependent SDC, Corporate and Business Unit groups with whom there is regular interaction. Work with supervisor to set priorities for the department and be able to help in all problem resolution matters. Make recommendations on process improvements and standardization to gain greater efficiency and effectiveness within the finance organization.

The Essentials
• 8+ years previous work experience in an accounting or finance field
• 2+ years prior management experience required
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person, via email or other digital format and on the telephone
• Must have the ability to multi-task and work well under time constraints
• Must be able to reason through issues and resolve problems independently
• Must be a critical thinker who can provide solutions with minimal guidance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Financial closing, consolidations, and reporting, experience required

Nice Haves
• Public and private accounting experience preferred
• Entertainment work experience preferred
• Working in shared service and/or outsourcing environment a plus
• Experience working with large amounts of data preferred
• Experience with SAP is a plus
• Project Management skills a plus
