Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Administration and Support – 25%
• Perform general database administrator activities for development efforts and projects in addition to providing 24 x 7 operational support for production databases. Must be able to do performance tuning, monitor backups, conduct database restores, and write maintenance scripts as needed.
• Assist in the creation, testing, and execution of Business Continuity Plans.
• Work with management, software developers, analysts, and/or external consultants to create technical designs and document technical specifications including capacity planning, cost/benefit analysis, and project plans.
• Create architecture diagrams, document processes and procedures, and create presentations regarding database implementations and/or enhancements.
• Maintain database security policy and provide periodical database access reports in order to full fill SOX and other compliance audits.
• Support packaged and proprietary applications by responding to customer requests for assistance, documenting the problems and actions taken using appropriate tracking tools, coordinating with other team members as necessary to resolve the problem, and communicating resolution to the customer and other appropriate parties in a timely manner. May provide 24 hour on-call customer support, as necessary for critical production issues that occur outside normal business hours as notified by phone or page.
• Support customers by identifying and researching problem trends and working with internal or external subject matter experts to correct and proactively prevent further problems by recommending and/or implementing bug-fixes, application enhancements, database tuning or other measures.
• Support customers by assisting with the execution of daily user administration tasks and by providing instructions which enable the customer to take ownership of processes better handled at the end user level

Reporting and Knowledge Management – 40%
• Run, create, or develop system reports to provide information to management/the business unit/ client.
• Assist in the dissemination of information through various communications methods including email, websites, ticket tracking system, and SharePoint.
• Attend training as necessary to enhance skills that are needed by the business.

Business Analysis – 25%
• Perform general business analysis activities on projects of medium size/length/risk, such as gathering and documenting business rules, user workflow, and system functional requirements.
• Create documents and presentations to prepare for the impact of application changes, enhancements, or implementations.
• Facilitate meetings with customers to determine and prioritize their business and system requirements for specific projects. Document and analyze requirements (e.g. business system, security, conversion, and report) to determine feasibility and recommend business process improvements where appropriate. Perform walkthroughs and/or prototype demonstrations.
• Work with software developers and/or vendors to create functional design and document technical specifications.
• Support Project Manager with scope definition, cost/benefit analysis, and project plan. Provide analysis task time estimates. Prepare application release notes and distribute them to the customer.

Governance and Best Practices - 10%
• Provide discipline and structural practices to guide the program with leadership, oversight and control ensuring that standards and practices as set by WarnerMedia and good practice are applied consistently and in executing the program effort. Participation in audit and BCP activities as required including BCP and DR testing, SOX, internal and external audit.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential
• At least 3 years in enterprise database administration (RDBMS : Oracle, SQLServer & OLAP: Essbase), or related IT experience
• Working knowledge in Linux, Unix and Windows OS level.
• 3 years hands-on technical experience in operations /administration/support.
• Proficient skills using the MS Office suite and process modeling and reporting tools (e.g., SQLServer reports, Crystal)
• Experience with client-server architecture, Web Enabled Applications, and SOA
• Experience with structured development methodology
• Experience with relational databases and queries
• Demonstrated understanding of business process analysis
• Superior customer service skills
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage priorities
• Effective problem solving and analytical skills
• Able to express concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing to varied audiences
• BS in Computer Science, IT, MIS, business, or equivalent education/training/experience. Master's degree would be an advantage
• Sound knowledge and experience in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Microsoft .NET technologies, BEA Weblogic, Netbackup Veritas, Java technologies
• Sound working knowledge in IntelliJ IDEA and Microsoft Visual Studio .Net IDEs

Desirable
• Business and technical experience in the broadcast media industry
• Experience working in a cable or broadcast environment
• Familiar with SharePoint, Visio, Microsoft Project or other project management tools
• Knowledge of vendors and technologies in Broadcast
• Delivery of business change and improvement projects
• Participation in more than one system implementation through the complete project life cycle
• Knowledge on Cloud computing preferred
