The job:
Your main responsibility is to ensure proactive and timely high-quality forecasting, reporting, and analysis in the operating expenses domain. You will manage a team of analysts and ensure deep knowledge and competencies are developed to provide business stakeholders with the required information to make educated decisions.
Key responsibilities:
1. Driving OPEX Insights and Analysis
• Lead OPEX analyses across managed markets, to improve understanding, identify opportunities and feed into broader strategic questions;
• Responsible for development of standard SMT and local budget holders reporting to highlight important trends, events, or unusual;
• Generate insights on current OPEX questions, opportunities, and challenges;
• Manage ad hoc strategic and OPEX related financial requests i.e. preparing business plans, financial models and scenario analysis for situations including potential new channel launches or ceases, M&A.
2. Providing core FP&A cycle activities to local teams
• Support month-end close activities related to accruals/deferrals of different costs and validation of actual results in the system;
• Provide variance analysis to explain the actual and forecasted performance of managed markets/regions vs prior year/plan/prior forecast;
• Support forecasts/budgets development for managed markets by working with budget holders to review and validate their bottoms up, providing assessment and recommendations of OPEX drivers to local finance directors.
3. Develop a team of FP&A analysts supporting managed OPEX area
• Lead and coach group analysts to provide high-quality support to their stakeholders;
• Understand team development plans and work with them to address their gaps through experience, networking, training activities.
4. Ad hoc Operational and Cost Management Projects
• Drive simplification projects to improve efficiency in working in FP&A OPEX area (ie. forecast modeling automation with machine learning, creation of global OPEX data warehouse reporting, and self-service BI tools);
• Assist the business partners and central and regional teams with OPEX related projects;
• Collaborate across boundaries, share best practices working with different teams;
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of different OPEX dynamics in the managed region;
• Establish helpful productive relationships with key contacts in HQ and across the regions to encourage the flow of information and share knowledge.
Requirements:
• Experience in the Finance function in the FP&A department;
• Fluent English skills;
• Advanced Excel skills;
• CIMA / ACCA / CPA certification would be preferred;
• Knowledge of media industry dynamics and key metrics impacting revenue would be an asset;
• Be able to meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure while showing excellent attention to detail;
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with a proven record of effectively presenting to both senior internal and external stakeholders;
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with proven ability to distinguish complex findings into a 'story' with actionable findings to support commercial decision making;
• Experience in using EPM solutions such as SAP BPC, Hyperion, Cognos, and OneStream is preferred;
• Strong problem-solving skills.
