Job Description
Your Role...

The Technical Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day technical operations of the WBDs production facilities situated across two West London sites.

Within this role you will ensure your technical teams and the facilities are delivering the highest quality of output.

You will identify, set up and manage the best technical workflows for programmes and support the production teams to achieve the editorial aspirations.

As principal contact for key clients, Engineering and operational teams you will deliver clear guidance on the facilities capabilities. You will support the technical operational teams to drive forward new projects and enhancements, whilst ensuring production-friendly usability is maintained.

You will set department objectives, develop staff and implement best practice across both sites ensuring consistent delivery and effective and efficient use of resources.

Key Responsibilities...
• Manage, lead and develop the Technical team and the production facility
• Ensure the technical requirements of each production are fully understood by each team and are achievable
• Assist with crewing and rostering of staff and freelancers, planning future operational requirements for upcoming productions.
• Identifying key development opportunities for improved workflows, system development and enhanced reporting
• Oversee the delivery by the technical crew during rigging and operation of technical equipment in production control rooms and on the studio floor (cameras, vision systems, AR/VR, lighting, Replay / Playout)
• Responsible for studio safety including the management of facilities risk assessments and Studio Maintenance safety certifications
• Provide support to the line manager in operational and strategic decision making
• Work collaboratively other ET&O departments within the supply chain i.e. MCR, Ingest, Engineering and Transmission ensuring working relationships and communication are of the highest standard
• Identify savings opportunities; promote sharing of best practice and process change opportunities to increase efficiency
• Escalation point and key contact for resolution of high priority issues
• Work collaboratively with the engineering teams to ensure that projects are delivered successfully, and any technical issues are resolved in a timely manner
• Actively manage POs, invoices and track additional costs

Skill And Experiences...
• A proven track record of successful technical delivery, with significant experience in the role of Studio Manager, Technical Manager, Unit Manager, or a similar position
• Experience in managing a multifunctional team of staff and freelancers in a live sport productions environment.
• Strong leadership skills demonstrating the ability to build, motivate, develop and inspire a team
• A good communicator who can influence others. Able to deliver key information in a timely and accurate manner to a range of stakeholders, and at all levels.
• Significant interest and expertise in broadcast systems, IP equipment and technology (cameras, sound, vision, AR/VR, lighting, graphics, Livetouch EVS), remote and studio-based production workflows
• Excellent organizational skills, able to complete tasks quickly and efficiently.
• Strong technical planning skills, comfortable with the detail of technical specifications.
• Ability to understand discussions and solutions from Technical groups and creating and managing complex documentation
• Proactive trouble-shooting, problem solving and avoidance of issues
• Able to prioritize a complex workload and to meet deadlines individually, and as part of a collaborative team.
• Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation, policies and standards: Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA), Risk Assessments, COSSH, Working at Height, Electricity at Work, Noise, Manual Handling of Work Equipment.
• Previous experience scheduling through Xytech Media Pulse and Provys
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic
