Overview
The Team Lead will be the subject matter expert for all functions under Commercial Scheduling Placement and responsibilities within all Live Events. They will be expected to have a proficient understanding and be able to support all Commercial Operations Specialist and Analysist functions and specialize in additional areas of the business as it relates to the daily logs. The Sports Log Team Lead will be experienced and available to support all systems including our traffic system, ideal application, Appian Database, Bin Sweeps and Optimizer, Aries and processes associated with the creation of the daily log. Effective communication with all partners, including Network Brands, Ad Sales, P&P, Studios/Production, Account Services, Master Control, Commercial Clearance, Commercial Copy and GSA. The Sports Team Lead will provide training for new hires and recurrent training for staff. The Sports Log Team Lead will support all operational needs by providing consistent standards to support maximum play out to air, maximizing log revenue and commercial unit placement quality control. They will adjust their schedule accordingly to provide effective coverage if needed across the team or as needed based on changes within Live Sporting events schedule. They will provide day-to-day mentoring (workflow, process, personnel) via close partnership with Managers and Directors. They will provide guidance to AD's and Producers regarding movement of commercial breaks during a live event and take ownership of the monetary value of each spot and keep them out of separation violations or from airing outside of constraints. They will assist in providing the best direction for the overall viewer experience while keeping client requests a top priority.
Responsibilities
- Subject matter expert and will perform certain Specialist and Analysts responsibilities which include but not limited to working sports logs, placing sports spots, Log Editing functions such as program changes imports, reformatting of the log and network inventory capacity management, log QC/clearing validations, sponsorship management, spot placements, denied inventory reports, DNA reports, monitoring deal changes, log optimization, process partials within the E-Copy queue, daily commercial clearance reports for the week, bin management, log exporting, and overall log editing maintenance and production and communicating with sports Ad Sales, Pricing &Planning, CSSU, and Production to ensure spots are placed correctly. They must have an elevated level of attention to detail and quality control with working knowledge of special advertiser requests and deal points per league. Due to the highly volatile and last-minute nature of scenarios sports can be extremely stressful and with the monetary considerations of sports commercials, it's key to be able to approach situations logically and correctly. Sound judgement, Decision making, Flexibility and adaptability are necessary.
- Provide feedback and guidance to other people within the log team on how best to approach specific problems within each sporting league and offer resolutions. Provide supervisory guidance over Specialist and Analysts work to ensure that commercials are placed within the bounds that they are booked to and run correctly. Specialize in and perform intricate Commercial Operations tasks such as managing and taking ownership of high-profile (premiere) events, entire program changes processes, custom rejoins, custom content pieces, alternate log management, format changes via the log, format conversions, Institutionals, AEIN & AEIP copy as well as placements, assisting/resolving copy issues regarding impacted units on logs, opening gates at the request of sales, monitoring workflow for daily 11am and 4pm exports, day-of air and after-hours log changes and reexports. Will act as a resource for the staff to answer questions and inquiries involving day-to-day workflow. Partner with Management to understand departmental workflows and devise solutions for efficiencies.
- Responsible for providing training to new hires and recurrent training for the staff. They also act as a back-up for Managers by helping research discrepancies and provide coverage across the teams. Able to handle large volume of work (speed) while maintaining accuracy. Takes a proactive leadership approach to problem solving. Actively participate in developing positive employee relations by setting a role model example. Available after hours to assist Management as needed. They will provide guidance to AD's and Producers regarding movement of commercial breaks during a live event and take ownership of the monetary value of each spot and keep them out of separation violations or from airing outside of constraints. They will assist in providing the best direction for the overall viewer experience while keeping client requests a top priority.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years' experience and proficiency in MS Office applications
- 3-5 years preferred knowledge of overall operational and technical processes and system interdependencies
- Documented History for Production of Quality Deliverables
- High school diploma/GED required. College Degree or equivalent experience/education/training preferred
