Meet our team:

The Ad Tech group works on building state-of-the-art Ad technology platforms and services that power the Discovery + and other digital services offered by Warner Bros. Discovery globally. We focus on all aspects of streaming video: live and VOD pipelines, metadata transformation, ad tech, server-side ad insertion, CDN integrations, playback services, video player backends, and AI/ML-based personalization.

What You'll Do:
• You will play a critical role in expanding and optimizing our data and reporting capabilities.
• This is a multi-faceted role requiring expertise in backend service development, streaming and batch services, and operational excellence.
• Your responsibilities will include:
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers in the team.
• Design and develop the cloud based Backend and streaming services to efficiently and cost effectively address various data needs across the business.
• Build software across our data platform, including stream or batch data processing, storage, and serving through various data integration.
• Think of new ways to help make our stream processing pipelines more scalable, resilient, and reliable and then work across our team to put your ideas into action.
• Help us stay ahead of the curve by working closely with technical architects, developers, our Product team to design systems which can scale elastically.
• Work closely with business stake holders to make data easily accessible and understandable to them.
• Ensure data quality by implementing re-usable data quality frameworks.
• Work closely with various other teams to roll out new capabilities.
• Develop and enforce data engineering, security, data quality standards through automation.
• Participate in supporting platform 24X7.
• Be passionate about growing a team - hire and mentor engineers
• Be responsible for cloud cost and improving efficiency.

What to Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar discipline . 9 - 13 years of experience in backend software engineering.
• You have a deep understanding of backend service technologies.
• Expertise in at least few programming languages - Java, Go, Python or similar.
• Expertise in building and managing large volume stream or batch processing platform is a must.
• Proficiency with streaming platforms like Kafka or Kinesis, or distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Flink.
• Expertise in SQL and No-SQL – PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch
• Demonstrated expertise in managing and optimizing Data Lakehouse environments, with a preference for familiarity with Databricks.
• Expert with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions Workflows.
• Extensive experience with Microservice Architecture principles and implementations.
• Practical knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms like Docker and EKS.
• Experience with cloud services, especially AWS, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with search and analytics tools, particularly OpenSearch
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
