We are looking for Senior Accountants to join our teams in Atlanta, GA and Knoxville, TN. The Senior Accountants reports to an Accounting Manager and will assist with month-end closing and monthly analytics of actual results. Successful Senior Accountants have a desire to gain a deep understanding of the business and have a customer service mindset towards the various Corporate Functions with whom there is regular interaction. Content Accounting – ensures that the company's content assets are accurately accounted for, which helps the company make informed financial decisions and maintain compliance with regulations.
Technology Expense - primarily responsible for their assigned depts including reviewing P&L activity; preparing journal entries for accruals, prepaids, reclasses, intercompany activity; preparing monthly/quarterly P&L variance explanations by dept and by account; preparing balance sheet reconciliations and flux explanations; and preparing/assisting external reporting schedules
Lease Accounting - day to day accounting and support for the global real estate lease portfolio
Sports Accounting - works with Finance to allocate and accrue all sports production costs to the proper cost centers.
Your Role Accountabilities..
Content Accounting – Work with team to execute all monthly and quarterly content accounting tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to, data maintenance related to tracking content usage and performing/documenting related analytics, creating workbooks and performing analyses for quarterly qualitative reviews, preparation of journal entries, roll forwards, and commitment reporting. Demonstrate knowledge of and perform duties in accordance with GAAP/Accounting guidance, global policies and procedures, and SOX controls.
• Other Tasks: Prepare materials for, and participate in meetings with, business partners and leadership. Perform tasks to achieve team and company goals such as, but not limited to: IT system maintenance/testing, ad hoc requests, and process improvement initiatives.
• Audit: Includes accurate and timely submission of requested documentation. Address any questions resulting from audit.
• S4 HANA: Support and work with larger content accounting team to assist the S4 HANA project team in the planning, design, and implementation of the new technology system.
Technology Expense – Prepare accruals, prepaids and other manual journal entries and related supporting documents, which include evidence of controls performed in SAP/PeopleSoft.
• Prepare supporting files to analyze the monthly activity of assigned accounts. Identify and highlight relevant variances between (1) current month P&L and YTD average, (2) MTD P&L actuals to forecast, and (3) BS fluctuations MoM/QoQ. Variances are reported to Accounting Manager.
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts. Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained.
• Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to assist Accounting Manager and other team members to cover any information request for internal (SOX-Internal Audit-GBS Management) or external (Auditors, Tax, Legal or Statutory) filing purposes.
• Analyze existing processes and identify and implement opportunities for improvement. Suggest those changes to the Accounting Manager.
• Assist in special projects including the system implementation of SAP S/4HANA and redesign processes that are currently performed in Peoplesoft. Prepare and maintain accounting process documentation.
Lease Accounting –
Own real estate lease activity and act as an expert for areas of responsibility
• Develop new processes and analysis to support the business as needed and implement process improvements
• Prepare/review account reconciliations, analysis, and certifications
• Analyze operational variances between current month and prior month
• Perform Ad-hoc projects and tasks to support the team.
• Facilitate rent payments to lessors
Sports Production Accounting – General ledger reviews to ensure accuracy, recording month end journal entries, changes in balance sheet activity and related accrued expenses, and account reconciliations, as well as serve as a business partner with business affairs, finance, and production management to resolve contract questions and issues. Demonstrate knowledge of and perform duties in accordance with GAAP/Accounting guidance, global policies and procedures, and SOX controls.
• Other Tasks: Complete ad hoc requests as needed. Perform tasks to achieve team and company goals such as, but not limited to, IT system maintenance/testing, and process improvement initiatives.
• Audit: Includes accurate and timely submission of requested documentation from internal and external auditors. Address any questions resulting from audit.
• S4 HANA: Support and work with larger content accounting team to assist the S4 HANA project team in the planning, design, and implementation of the new technology system.
Skills For All Positions:
• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 2-3 years relevant accounting experience (industry or public)
• Masters and/or CPA (or path to CPA) preferred
• Experience in SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft Financials or other ERP systems
• Experience in Hyperion, SmartView, EPM, or other database tools
• Experience with Blackline reconciliation
• Experience preparing and reviewing general ledge account reconciliations
• Experience with monthly or quarterly financial reporting and variance analysis
• Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt to dynamic and uncertain environments
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
• Technical accounting research and memo writing
