Overview:

Summary of Position

The State and Local Income Tax Senior Accountant will support the Director of State and Local Tax in all aspects of state and local corporate income and franchise taxes. This will include supporting the execution of tax planning initiatives, domestic transfer pricing, external tax policy, and seeking out credit opportunities. This position will also support the SALT provision and compliance processes and provide transactional support to the business.

Location: Knoxville TN or Altanta GA

Responsibilities:
• Support the analysis and implementation of state income tax planning initiatives and strategies
• Assist the Director of SALT in providing technical support to the state compliance and reporting teams
• Assist the Director of SALT in providing SALT advisory and transactional support to our various business and tax partners including M&A, new product launches, and other business initiatives
• Support the monitoring and tracking of new state legislation, regulatory, and judicial rulings for their impacts to the business, our current positions, and the tax provision
• Prepare calculations as it relates to the potential outcomes of ongoing audits, controversy, and various legislative initiatives
• Support various ad hoc projects

Qualifications:
• BS or BA in Accounting or Tax
• 2 - 5 years of experience in state and local income tax
• In-depth knowledge of state tax law, regulations, and case law and ability to apply that knowledge to complex issues impacting the business
• Knowledge and experience with ASC 740
• Comfort in explaining technical state tax concepts to both tax and non-tax colleagues
• Experience with various ERP systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft and SAP) and tax provision/compliance software (OneSource) a plus
• Ability to collaborate with a global team
