It rolled out globally across Latin America and the Caribbean in 2021, followed by its first European launches in the Nordics and Spain later that year. In May 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery introduced Max, an enhanced streaming platform, in the US HBO Max is currently available in 46 countries and there are plans for the continued global expansion of Max in 2024.
As a Senior Staff Software Developer on Warner Bros. Discovery's C++ player team, you will build and support client-side components for our streaming video applications including our flagship product, Max. You will develop the client-side player experience, including backend services and core media integrations, user interface, telemetry, and playback resiliency to deliver a top-tier viewing experience to our customers. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to continuously deliver incremental value. You will join a growing team with many opportunities to expand your skillset, including your ability to design, implement, and own critical features in a product used by millions of customers. You will have access to experienced engineers in the streaming space as mentors, as well as be a mentor and strong technical resources to those around you.

The Essentials
• A deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms,
• data structures, and operating systems.
• Fluency in a modern programming language, ideally C++ 17.
• Skills in designing and consuming large-scale client library and backend
• integrations.
• Design and drive the implementation of extensible, performant, and modular
• solutions that coordinate the implementation of large-scale features across
• multiple teams.
• Experience implementing dynamic user experiences including smooth, responsive
• user interfaces and error handling.• Adept at analyzing and profiling systems to find the root cause of issues and
• optimization opportunities.
• A passion for software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code
• that you and your team write as an expert in client-side video technology.
• Enhance the productivity of the teams and projects you work on through clear
• communication, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and driving technical decisions.
• Be a self-starter that can independently prioritize and solve complex engineering
• problems while managing input from multiple stakeholders and teams.

• BS degree in Computer Science, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant
• experience.

• 5+ years in software engineering on shipped consumer products or platforms
• User interface development, particularly with complex and dynamic UI
• Automated testing at the unit, integration, system, and UI levels
• Git source version control and GitHub
• Media technology (e.g. ExoPlayer, AVFoundation, HTML5 video)
• Streaming technology (e.g. DASH, HLS)
