Senior Staff Product Manager- Tech (Live Streaming)

Position Summary

We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Staff Technical Product Manager to spearhead Live Streaming initiatives of the Global Video Platform (GVP) within the Direct-to-Consumer Platform Product Management organization.

GVP serves as the converged platform powering WBD's suite of streaming applications, including the current flagship Max. It encompasses a comprehensive suite of server-side workflow components responsible for content and metadata processing, as well as the delivery and playback of both live and video-on-demand (VOD) content across various consumer devices through client-side player SDKs.

In this role, you will take ownership of the live streaming domain within GVP, overseeing critical services such as encoding, transcoding, packaging, encryption, and content replication to ensure seamless video delivery and playback experiences for our consumers.

Collaboration will be key as you work closely with Engineering and Technical Program Manager counterparts within the live and VOD Content Processing Teams. You'll also interface with adjacent workflow teams including Media Supply Chain and Content Delivery, as well as stakeholder teams such as Consumer Product Management, Quality of Experience (QoE), Release Management, and Customer Experience.

We are seeking an ideal candidate who not only possesses a strong foundation in Product Management methodologies, including requirements gathering, backlog prioritization, roadmap creation, and data-driven decision-making, but also boasts deep expertise in live streaming technologies, video and audio quality assessment tools, and consumer streaming device capabilities and limitations.

This is a high-profile position that demands exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities across all levels of the organization and various business teams. You will play a crucial role in collaborating with partners to design, prioritize, and globally launch scalable live streaming solutions.

Responsibilities
• Provide product expertise and thought leadership in the areas of live content processing, packaging, encryption, and replication.
• Develop, communicate, and implement a comprehensive content processing product strategy aligned with business objectives and technology trends.
• Collaborate with cross-organization and cross-functional stakeholder teams to define content processing platform product requirements.
• Develop a prioritized product roadmap that meets the needs of stakeholders.
• Set priorities and build shared understanding across teams, often creating networks to coordinate and drive impact across groups.
• Drive for consistency and quality in content formats across WBD streaming properties.
• Establish and monitor key qualitative and quantitative objectives and KPIs and drive the team to meet or exceed them. Analyze data, interpret metrics, and draw actionable insights to inform product decisions and optimize product performance.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
• Understand and advocate for the needs of the customer.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on product development and delivery.
• Use effective leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams toward a common product vision. Provide clear direction, motivate team members, and resolve conflicts. Use influence to drive results and scale through others,
• Stay informed on the latest industry trends, competitive offerings, emerging technologies, and advancements in content processing to develop novel solutions.

Requirements
• 12+ years of Product Management or other relevant experience.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
• In-depth knowledge of live encoding and distribution technologies, including HLS, DASH, CMAF, SCTE-35 and closed captioning.
• Experience launching and developing platform level products and features for a global audience at scale.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate and present to stakeholders at all levels of the business.
• Demonstrated strong ownership to deliver exceptional customer experiences and customer empathy.
• A technical background in software development is preferred, including understanding development methodologies and technical architecture of web services.
• A solid understanding of business principles, including revenue models, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
• Experience working with and managing the needs of multiple stakeholders and business teams.
• Experience driving clarity in ambiguous situations to drive forward progress.
• Experience with data analysis and driving insights to inform product and business decisions.
• Experience leveraging machine learning or AI driven tools to solve complex problems is a plus. Must have an interest in driving innovation in this rapidly changing space.
