Meet Our Team:
The Data Platform team at Warner Bros. Discovery powers data-driven experiences across global products like Max, Discovery+, Sports, Studios, and News. The team builds and operates a scalable, multi-tenant data ecosystem that enables analytics, real-time insights, and machine learning use cases across the organization. Positioned at the core of the data journey, the team is responsible for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of client and server-side data into reliable and high-quality datasets. Operating at the intersection of data and platform engineering, the team focuses on building robust pipelines, ensuring data quality and governance, and driving innovation in real-time processing, observability, and modern data infrastructure. The team collaborates closely with product, analytics, and engineering stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making at scale .

Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Senior Manager – Data Platform Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and scaling of Warner Bros. Discovery's data platform, driving technical strategy and operational excellence across distributed systems.
• Own the end-to-end architecture of the data platform, ensuring scalability, efficiency, security, and governance
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design and build cost-effective and high-performing platform solutions
• Develop foundational tools and frameworks to enhance data processing, governance, and data quality
• Drive adoption of best practices aligned with open-source standards and contribute to engineering communities
• Leverage AI/ML and Generative AI techniques to improve platform efficiency and data workflows
• Ensure 24x7 platform availability and manage cloud infrastructure costs effectively
• Promote a culture of experimentation, innovation, and data-driven decision-making
• Lead hiring, mentoring, and development of engineering teams, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business and product needs
• Drive operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement practices

What to Bring:
• 14+ years of experience delivering complex software engineering systems and platforms
• Strong programming experience in Java, Python, C++, or similar languages
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and frameworks such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern data infrastructure
• Strong understanding of data platforms, data lakes, and data engineering best practices
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
• Knowledge of databases and storage systems like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch
• Familiarity with analytics tools such as Looker, Tableau, or similar is a plus
• Strong understanding of cloud security best practices
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to align technical solutions with business goals and drive execution

Bonus Skills:
• Experience in building AI/ML-driven platforms
• Exposure to Generative AI use cases in data engineering
• Experience contributing to scalable, multi-tenant data platforms
Technical Environment:
• Tech Stack: Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, Kubernetes
• Cloud: AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure
• Infrastructure: Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
• Data Systems: Data lakes, distributed data processing frameworks, streaming systems
• Observability: Monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance tuning tools
• Practices: Agile methodologies, DevOps, automation, and continuous delivery
