Job Description
The Senior, EMEA Direct to Consumer Content Accounting is a key position in the accounting team. This person will be responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Content Accounting team, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies for various businesses within EMEA territories for Warner Bros. Discovery.


1. 1. Perform the day-to-day operations of the Content Accounting team, the accounting of EMEA content assets, including licensed programming, locally originally produced programing, HBO and D+ licensed original programming and accounting for language versioning materials. Oversight responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Performing the end-to-end accounting for content, including the accounting for content assets, liabilities and expenses for all licensed and owned titles on a title by title basis
• Ensure that financial records are complete, accurate and in compliance with US GAAP and company policies
• Execute the month end close process, including the review and approval of journal entries and other financial reports
• Work with team members, operations and finance to troubleshoot and solve accounting issues during month end close.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and accurate resolution of accounting issues and with other members of the Controllership team to review, and resolve any intercompany discrepancies within the group
• Timely complete or review account reconciliations to ensure balance sheet accuracy and completeness
• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal control environment
• Key user of SUN systems content accounting subledger requiring in-depth understanding of software functionality and close interaction with systems support team
• Work closely with financial accounting teams on the DTC EMEA monthly close reporting and local statutory filing process

2. Engage with key EMEA controllership stakeholders, including FP&A, GBS, Tax, and country specific business unit teams. Ensure a robust understanding of the streaming business in core operating sectors and provide responsive consultation and information as required in key business decisions.

3. Participate and provide input to key system and process integrations in the EMEA controllership area over the next two to three years, especially as it relates to the recent merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia and ERP upgrade initiatives. Frequently assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing approved new processes.


Work Experience
• At least 5 years of work experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, SOX requirements as required

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university
• Master's degree in accounting a plus
• CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred

• Experience performing financial accounting monitoring of key business performance metrics
• Strong understanding of financial systems with ability to learn and master new system tools
• Experience in automating manual processes
• Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
• Experience implementing best practices that require significant innovation for improving processes by applying advanced understanding of complex functional/technical and business issues and challenges
• Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
• Willing and able to travel internationally for occasional business trips
