Your New Role…

The Revenue Accounting Team is responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting for the whole EMEA region including standard and non-standard deals at WBD. The goal is, acting as one team, to provide revenue accounting services in an effective, holistic and compliant way to meet the needs of our stakeholders including global WBD Management and external WBD stakeholders.

In this role, you need to have a strong understanding of IFRS and US GAAP and apply it consistently to assure correct revenue recognition. You should be a strong leader supporting the team in everyday activities as well as acting as mentor and promoter, having tangible impact on your team's development. You will be a partner to multiple stakeholders, internal and external. The team is responsible for End-to-End process covering contract interpretation and analysis, its implications, preparation and review of corresponding adjustments to assure accuracy in revenue recognition. You will be as well a key stakeholder, moving with speed and driving results, in documenting and improving processes to gain more controllership over designated areas of the business.

This position will lead an accounting team of 15+ employees located mostly in Warsaw. The Revenue Accounting Director will report directly to the VP EMEA Networks controller.

Revenue Accounting team is a part of EMEA Accounting Controllership Team that is fully responsible for multiple countries from the Networks segment in the region, including UK, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and more.

Your Role Accountabilities…
• Managing the team of 15+ members in a vertical structure, including several direct reports to ensure high quality level of accounting within the revenue streams and providing hands-on support during the day-to-day activities of the respective team to ensure effective decision making, including career development.
• Proactively leading and/or performing the period-end closing and operational activities in accordance with US GAAP/WBD Policies and SOX standards
• Review contracts, provide guidance and coordinate technical accounting research to determine proper revenue recognition in line with regulations and company policies.
• Manage internal and external audit work (Sox testing, maintenance and updating of internal controls, Financial Compliance processes).
• Review periodical management reports, BS Flux and SEC schedules including applicable regular revenue-related analyses and metrics as well as ad hoc reporting.
• Drive and manage improvements and develop automation of daily/monthly standard tasks in revenue (accounting) processes and workflows.
• Lead cross department meetings, document and track action items. Propose solutions, support continuous improvement. Escalate and/or resolve issues as appropriate

Qualifications & Experience…
• Master's degree in accounting or finance and at least 10 years of accounting/auditing experience in international environment.
• Minimum 5 years of documented experience in a supervisory/leadership role of an experienced team.
• BIG4 experience as well as knowledge of media / entertainment industry are considered advantageous.
• Understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP with focus on understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP for revenue recognition is a must. Practical end-to-end understanding of reporting impact of accounted transactions.
• Proficient and experienced in MS Office applications, Excel in particular is a must.
• Experience with enterprise information systems, (SAP) a strong plus and preferred.
• Results oriented, strong attention to details, accuracy, timeliness, ability to multi-task and prioritize both your individual and your team tasks is a must.
• Presentation skills, status reporting, issue flagging, public speaking and exposition of prepared analysis and its implications. Ability to frame issues and articulate findings, areas for improvements and propose solutions. Communication skills with executive level are necessary.
• High Integrity team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work well with others and promote positive working relationships across the organization.
• Proven ability to assess new challenges, identify areas for improvements, articulate action plans to management and follow through to implementation.
• Motivated by challenging, high-energy, flexible environment. Ability to work under conditions of pressure and adjust to urgent and changing situations.
• ACCA, CIMA or PIBR completed qualification is considered as a strong advantage.
