Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:

In this role, the Principal Architect serves as the design lead on both enterprise and localized solutions to support our global content creation teams. The Principal Architect also partners with departmental leadership to vet and deliver tools and technology recommendations to the organization. This position partners with business and technology stakeholders across WBD to understand business needs, elicit requirements and design agile and efficient content production systems and workflows that enable business transformation Ideal candidates have an extensive background in digital video technologies, architectural design processes, system integration in a media company, excellent communication and leadership, and will be able demonstrate innovative problem solving skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define and Implement Systems Architecture for WBD's software-based, cloud production systems

Provide clear vision and direction that the team fully get behind and which aligns to the overall company direction.

Design, build & configure full-stack complex ecosystems of media systems, including networking, Media Asset Management, AV routing, desktop. storage and virtualization

Lead design and implementation of Localized software-based production solutions

Support the creation of Enterprise level solutions by collaborating closely with the broadcast dev ops team

Facilitate and elicit requirements gathering. Analyse and collaborate on technical solutions and strategies with the team and other department leads to provide the optimum solution.
Own success, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of solutions and learning from failure to build resilience and achieve long term success.

Partner with leadership and stakeholders to create a shared technical vision and drive the architecture strategy of cloud production and the end-to-end ecosystem.

Create cost estimates and cost models

Lead strategic transformation in the business, collaborating with senior leadership to create a vision and implement the strategy to deliver it.

Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to fellow architects, support engineers, developers and business partners so that they have opportunities to continually grow and develop, providing feedback and recognising wins and accomplishments.

Direct the work of others as requested and perform testing, support, or other tasks as necessary to ensure success of the deliverables per user requirements.

Develop target operating models for assigned functions/process areas. Including facilitation of design workshops, building prototypes, running proof of concepts (POCs) and delivering broadcast cloud solutions into operational workflows.

Engage other technical subject matter experts (Centers of Excellence, networking, support) across the enterprise to solicit input, feedback, perspective, and assistance. Work with them to implement, operate, and support the shared components of the software and hardware architectures. Proactively plan for project or organizational contingencies and design, recommend, implement, and manage changes under the guidance of senior leadership team

Author design documentation, including high-level conceptual, networking, and detailed design & integrations

To be the pioneer of new technology & innovation, with an awareness of future industry trends. Always looking at emerging technology to align it to business needs and aspirations.

Work with Cyber and Content Security teams on design and reviews to ensure systems meet or exceed the company's security requirements

Perform Project Manager duties for small inititatives, including budget & timeline creation, procurement and resource assignment

Author design documentation, including high-level conceptual, networking, and detailed design & integrations

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or Broadcast Media related subject or equivalent education/training/experience.
• Prior experience as a systems architect, or significant demonstrated expertise in systems or broadcast production engineering in Media & Entertainment
• Ability to develop creative solutions. Ability to balance multiple competing demands
• Proven experience designing and delivering cloud-based production systems and architectures for live events in a public and private cloud environment.
• Successful track record of leading major projects and development/delivery of complex solutions.
• Experience driving change management, process improvement and operating model
design.

Knowledge/Skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy, as well as strong organizational skills.
• Ability to assess and measure impact and to prioritize accordingly.
• Systems Fluency in 5 of the following areas: File acquisition, Video Compression & Codecs, Video Formats (HD, UHD, 4K, HDR), A/V Routing, Operating Systems, Editing, Post Audio, VFX, Shared Storage Systems, Networking, Complex scripting languages, Media Asset Management, File Transcode & Transfer, SaaS implementation, tiered storage for content production, cloud and on-prem implementations. Detailed knowledge of HDR standards such as HLG and PQ would be an advantage.
• Cloud production products and systems GV AMPP, Vizrt/Newtek Vector, Evertz, Simply Live, Telos, Unity, NDI.
• Public Cloud Provider experience AWS Google, Azure.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability.
