An opportunity for a Principal Contribution Engineer has been created within WBD to drive the delivery of premium sports content for WBD.

Working on our Olympics roadmap for Paris 2024 as well as all other major sports rights across EMEA the role is key to the success of high profile projects and offers the opportunity to work with some of the best professionals in the business.

The Principal Contribution Engineer will lead the technical vision and drive the innovation needed to meet the increasing demands of remote sports production for all WBD properties.

They will be a subject matter expert in the field of broadcast contribution with a proven background in broadcast technology, IP networks and delivering major projects at the highest level.

This role is a focal point for the department liaising with senior management, vendors and internal stakeholders to develop next generation technology and represent the company at industry bodies.

The position is a hybrid role with up to 3 days a week in the office and is based in Chiswick Park, London. European travel is expected.

Key Responsibilities...
• Define and implement the contribution system architecture for WBD cross EMEA
• Liaise with the Eurosport, TNT Sports, Olympic and other internal project teams to deliver on future projects and services
• Champion the benefits of new and innovative contribution technology to all relevant parts of the business
• Assist with management of third party suppliers and their implementation of projects and upgrades on our behalf
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to fellow engineers so that they have opportunities to continually grow and develop, providing feedback and recognising wins and accomplishments.
• Direct the work of others as requested and perform testing, support, or other tasks as necessary to ensure success of key sports properties
• Perform Project Manager duties for smaller initiatives, including budget & timeline creation, procurement and resource assignment
• Provide specialist technical support and training to operational departments and business partners

Requirements...
• Bachelor's degree in the broadcast or media technology field or similar qualification
• Experience at a senior engineering level for a major sports broadcaster
• Experience leading a team and training/mentoring engineers
• Proven experience of designing and delivering broadcast workflows for major tier 1 sporting events (Olympics, EPL/UCL etc)
• Expert knowledge of HD/UHD broadcast video signal chains
• Expert knowledge of contribution compression standards
• Experience with cloud based contribution and production workflows
• Experience building within AWS/GCP/Azure
• Experience delivering POC's, proposals and presentations to senior management groups
• Successful track record of leading major projects and delivery of complex solutions.
• Ability to assess and measure impact and to prioritise accordingly.
• Active participation within industry standards groups such as SMPTE and AMWA
