The Job

This position will be a member of the Global Sports Platform Software Engineering (GSP SE) team inside of the Warner Bros. Discovery's Technology organization. The GSP SE team is a software engineering group responsible to build and maintain mission-critical applications, systems and workflows on a global scale in support of Warner Bros. Discovery's brand partnerships.

This role will work with a team that is tasked with architecting, engineering, and managing applications, workflows and services for our brand partners. Our applications and technology solutions are responsible for content processing and delivery, image and asset metadata management, localization, video workflow, APIs and brand presentation. We are a fundamental part of Warner Bros.

Realizing our mission requires a staff of highly motivated and technically flexible software professionals across a variety of disciplines: design, development, program & project management, testing and support. We are hiring people to build a team that can create engaging, high-quality solutions, platforms, and interactive experiences to ensure the best consumer experience.
Our tech stack consists of JavaScript, TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, ReactNative, PHP, Sass, and AWS services. We are flexible in our technology choices as we leverage internal services, open-source software, and cloud services.

Warner Bros. Discovery is looking for a Software Engineering Manager with the knowledge, motivation, and energy to help build robust solutions encompassing our entire global platform solution. The successful candidate will work closely with product/project managers, users, development staff, and senior leadership to implement designs, develop and deploy fan-facing solutions.

Responsibilities
Own and drive key initiatives that support the developer workflow from PR to release

Innovate and deliver great technical solutions

Work collaboratively with the partner engineering teams in gathering inputs, and providing support and guidance

Monitor, review, and coach developer's performance; deliver regular performance appraisals and provide disciplinary actions as appropriate

Provide coaching (develop, motivate your team, and conduct regular one-on-ones)

Document technical solutions and articulate these solutions to both a business and technical audience

Present, communicate and advocate engineering perspectives as appropriate and needed

Collaborate in recruiting, resume review, phone screening, and interviews to bring in top-tier talent for the team

You Must Have

1+ years managing, coaching, and mentoring engineers or technical roles

5+ years related experience

Demonstrated experience driving business results by delivering high quality software

Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally to improve existing features and deliver new ones

Excellent oral and written communication skills (bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus)

Experience in designing and implementing scalable, distributed, and highly available systems

Experience in implementing microservices, RESTful APIs, and event driven architectures

Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, Google app engine, Azure,etc)

Drive to master emerging technologies and share experiences with team members

Solid foundation in troubleshooting application and data issues in a distributed environment
