The EVS operator is responsible for EVS and File Server operation as well as playback, recording, quick turn editing, telestration effects, slow-motion controlled replays during game and/or studio broadcast productions. The EVS operator will be responsible for maintaining a high level of skill, speed, and knowledge regarding the EVS system including but not limited to elements like video, animations, transitions and more. This person will have a passion for sports with a creative eye and understanding for storytelling
Your Role Accountabilities...
LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS
• Operates EVS and file server equipment (playback, recording, editing, telestration effects, slow-motion replay)
• Operates video and audio routers
• Creatively and proactively sell shots to the Show Producer and Assistant Director with an understanding of the storytelling needed for the Production
• Producing quick turn editing during live games and studio productions that include replays, teasers and highlight packages under the pressure and time constraints of live television
• Anticipate the proper clips to use while editing segments of the show needed for a later airing
• Collaborate with the Show Assistant Director and corresponding remote sites to help achieve the video needs of the assigned production
• Archives video and audio clips as necessary to maintain an effective level of clip storage
COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
• Works closely with the EVS Technical Specialist and the Senior EVS operator to gain more in-depth knowledge on file server information and advanced EVS operations
• Work closely with Technical Operations and Production (BEST) Engineering to identify, troubleshoot and solve technical problems in EVS workflow. Making sure each problem is resolved to completion
• Works with the Senior EVS operator to create documentation for the set up of the EVS machine workflow for the assigned Production
Qualifications & Experiences...
• 6 – 8 years of network level broadcast production experience operating as an EVS Operator for live game, live remote and/or live studio productions
• Knowledgeable of current industry standards
• Knowledge of File Server operations (IP Director, XFile)
• Knowledge of video and audio router operations
• Able to read and understand documentation for set up of EVS machine workflow for assigned production
• Must have strong leadership skills as well as excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
• Must take ownership and accountability for assigned productions
• Good computer skills, a logical approach and creative eye
• Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints
• Able to work flexible, non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays
Not Required but preferred experience:
• Knowledgeable of iNews
• Knowledge and passion for major sports (NBA, MLB, NHL, US Soccer, etc)
• Knowledgeable of new technologies available or on the horizon
