About You:

We are hiring a Data Engineering Leader to join our team. As a hands-on engineering leader, you are responsible to deliver highly performant and scalable data products and platforms to drive consumption of data from our data ecosystem, while driving data engineering best practices. Responsibilities

Possess a broad range of big data engineering concepts and know when to apply them. Offer suggestions and feedback to the team, dive deep into technical problems. Excellent communication skills, able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Lead by example and inspire teams to follow your lead. Teach best practices by showing, not just telling. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams, or an area of strategic importance with significant impact in big data engineering. Able to work effectively through other managers reporting to you. Influence teams and groups outside your organization with deep insight and strategic thinking in big data engineering. Participate in strategic planning and demonstrate good judgment in setting and delivering against strategic goals for your big data engineering team. Ability to hire and retain the best big data engineers and managers. Provide mentorship to engineering managers successfully, creating a capable and autonomous team. Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging team members to find new and better ways to solve big data engineering problems. Design, develop, and maintain real-time data streaming pipelines and architectures that process and analyze large volumes of data. Manage and optimize streaming data storage and compute resources, ensuring efficient use and cost-effectiveness.

Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and privacy in streaming data environments. Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their streaming data requirements and design solutions that meet their needs. Build and maintain scalable and fault-tolerant streaming data systems that can handle high volumes of data and traffic. Implement and maintain ETL processes to integrate data from various sources and systems into streaming data platforms.

Requirements

10+ years leading and managing a big data engineering team with coaching, mentoring, setting goals, and recruiting talent. Strong programming and domain experience in big data technologies. Experience with ETL/ELT utilizing Python, Apache Spark, Airflow, Snowflake and Databricks. Experience with streaming data storage and compute resources such as Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, and Apache Spark Streaming. Hands-on expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining real-time data streaming pipelines and architectures that process and analyze large volumes of data. Strong knowledge of data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and privacy in streaming data environments. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge of large-scale application architecture, design, implementation, and performance tuning in streaming data environments. Experience in modern DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, performance monitoring, and incident management in streaming data environments. Experience with Java, Scala, Golang is a plus. Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
