The design/visual effects department within Techwood Studios works closely with the sound design and editorial departments to create compelling, creative, and dynamic pieces including promotional campaigns, programming elements, and shows. The artists create pieces for broadcast, streaming, and social as well as internal and corporate presentations.

Your Role Accountabilities...
Working in support of CNLA, the Design Apprentice position is designed for a well-rounded, junior design with a keen eye and passion for design and motion graphics with a willingness to learn and incorporate feedback from other creatives. The design apprentice will be challenged to further develop their creative, technical, and soft skills by designing and animating promotional and programming projects from ideation to delivery. While working closely with editors, producers, and other creatives, the design apprentice will gain essential experience to develop a thorough understanding of the CNLA brand and workflows. Through practice, guidance, and mentorship, the design apprentice will strengthen their creative eye, storytelling skills, and motion design techniques to prepare for the next step in their career. This is a 2-year, benefits-eligible paid program.
As a CNLA Design Apprentice, you will provide support by:
• Assist in the creation of compelling short and long-form, multi-platform content for high and non-high profile promotional work, marketing, and/or programming for CNLA
• Execute assigned projects with some guidance from edit staff and feedback from partners
• Maintain informed knowledge of the CNLA brand and material
• Work independently to achieve project objective and design components of projects
• Work effectively with Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Producers
• Show originality by providing unique motion solutions to solve visual problems
Qualifications & Experience...
• Demo reel or portfolio of current work linked on your resume
• Experience assisting in a commercial post-production broadcast or social environment
• Must have working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, particularly After Effects
• Proficient motion and graphic design skills including logo, typography and graphic communication
• Motivation and readiness to collaborate, take on new challenges, bring creative ideas to the table, and shape the 2-years into a beneficial learning experience
• Ability to quickly adapt and pivot based on project deadlines and partners' requests
• Willingness to reach out to others to learn and incorporate feedback from design team, producers, mentors, and managers
• Knowledge of motion techniques, animation and ability to work with a team
• Understand session etiquette while collaborating with the design / edit staff and partners to ensure smooth communication and workflow
• Self-motivated / Takes initiative / Intuitive
• Once the term concludes, there is no guaranteed promotion.
