BIT Manager (BCC Manager)

Your New Role…

The BIT Manager for Production Technology is a lead technical management position managing Tier 1 engineering teams whose function is to operate transmission systems for live sports/entertainment and who support IT/Broadcast groups and equipment for Entertainment, Sports and 24x7x365 live news programming environments. This experienced leader manages teams that operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and support other production engineering teams and their customers for all Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) production locations and at remote sites/field locations as required. They implement the long term and strategic goals for the department. They manage a team of 45+ direct and indirect reports composed of supervisors, technical leads and engineers. Those team members are directly responsible for the operation of Tier 1 Engineering call centers. This position has 24x7 responsibilities both domestically and internationally and requires a broad understanding of broadcast and IT systems, ITIL practices, transmission workflows, strong communication skills and employee development.

Your Role Accountabilities…

For news/sports/entertainment productions, BIT Managers work closely with their counterparts in other cities to create practical support and escalation plans, create institutional documentation, and provide engineering assistance to meet new business needs. They maintain close working relationships with key management partners and customers to ensure business service level agreements are maintained and resources are deployed judiciously.

BIT Managers are expected to recruit, develop, coach, and lead the teams successfully. They must be highly motivated, proven team leaders capable of working with executives, vendors and colleagues across disciplines. They maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners, including editorial, 3rd party support teams, IT and technical operations, maintaining live content and support services for production use. They support all WBD brands and are expected to interface with other divisions to develop support and escalation plans and seek out opportunities to streamline, standardize and document production workflows. BIT Managers must be:

Successful BIT Managers must have:
• Analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to foster relationships across the organization
• Prior Broadcast, Transmission, and IT support experience
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Strong financial skills related to tracking capital budgets, forecasts, and operating budgets
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills and strong presentation skills

Qualifications & Experience…

College Degree

5 years in Broadcast TV transmissions and live remote events

Extensive knowledge of transmission systems, technologies and providers

Experience in contract negotiations and budget preparation

Ability to create technical drawings for transmission systems

Effective communicator with Senior Executives, Clients and Vendor

Technical field experience with remote transmissions and systems

TV Engineering knowledge, background or experience
