Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
• Support all aspects of WBD's businesses across India, South East Asia and Korea (INSEAK), with a particular focus on Korea, including in the areas of channel/programming services distribution, content distribution, content acquisition/production, advertising sales, licensing, employment, marketing & PR and corporate matters
• Review and develop precedents and processes to enhance the efficiency of the Legal Team
• Review and advise on data privacy and other relevant compliance and regulatory matters applicable to WBD's business
• Draft, negotiate and advise business teams on agreements in English and Korean
• Identify and advise business teams on a range of potential legal and business risks
• Develop a close working relationship with the business teams in Korea and across APAC
• Provide legal and compliance training, including on anti-bribery and corruption, data privacy and information security matters
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
• Draft, review and advise on channel/programming services distribution, content distribution/acquisition/production deals, advertising sales deals, licensing deals and related group templates and forms
• Provide legal and commercial advice in connection with the negotiation of agreements
• Advise on laws and regulations
• Advise on regulations, compliance matters and legal and business risks with primary responsibility for liaising with regulators, updating the business on legislative and regulatory developments and advising APAC management on issues relating to the above, with a particular focus on SEA/Korea
• Provide related support to APAC sales and business development executives, contract administrators, finance, rights, credit and collections and marketing teams
REQUIREMENTS
• Education: Law Degree from a recognized university in UK/Singapore or elsewhere
• Prior Experience/Industry: 3+ years PQE experience in a top-tier law firm and/or MNC, with exposure to international legal systems and ways of doing business
• Technical and Business: Keen sense of business acumen
• Self-Management: Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands and to make considered legal decisions without assistance
• Management and Leadership: Flexible, ''can do'' attitude and willingness to learn
• Language: Native-level fluency in English, ability to draft legal agreements in other languages such as Korean preferred
• Other Requirements of person: Good written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent judgment, ability to work as part of a team and to think outside the box to solve complex problems
• Knowledge: IP/licensing, media, telecommunications, data privacy and/or corporate/commercial
• Regional/Country Experience: Experience working internationally
