Your New Role

The Music Royalties Analyst is responsible for assisting the VP, Music Finance & Business Development and Lead Music Royalties in analyzing mechanical and artist / producer licenses and contracts to determine royalty rates, recoupables, union obligations, cross collateralizations, profit participations and royalty dependencies and entering this information into royalty software for purposes of calculation and payment. This role reviews legal agreements and participation statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual obligations and communicates with business affairs to interpret contractual language.

Your Role Accountabilities
• Read and review licenses, contracts, abstracts, and other related written documentation to determine royalty obligations for publishers, writers, artists, producers, unions etc. Communicate with business affairs as needed to interpret contractual language.
• Setup royalty rates and structures for all participants in royalty accounting software for purposes of calculation and payment. Verify accuracy of software setups and resulting statements to verify that all contractual obligations have been met and make modifications to setups and statements as needed
• Identify process and system improvements and enhancements. Perform current and historical analysis to verify that reporting is in accordance with contractual agreements.
• Support special projects. Attend departmental meetings, research and respond to participant and auditor requests for information. Support system development efforts and testing of system enhancements.

Qualifications & Experience
• 1-2 years previous participations, accounting, audit, royalties, or financial experience preferred.
• Previous entertainment industry working experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles preferred.
• Experience with system implementations and testing preferred.
• Experience in a large corporate environment preferred.
• BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Must have strong competency in working with multiple systems, applications, and SAP; must be willing to learn new IT applications.
• Very strong proficiency in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word required.
• Very strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and algebra required.
• Excellent analytical skills required.
• Strong overall understanding of Participations, including ability to read and understand digests and abstracts of legal agreements required.
• Very strong planning, organizational, and time management skills required.
• Must be very flexible and able to adapt in a fast-paced rapidly changing team environment.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Must be very detail oriented, without losing sight of the big picture.
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to conceptualize and communicate solutions
• Must be a team player with a high-level of interpersonal skills and customer-focus.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
