Your New Role...
The Accounting Manager will be a member of the Controllership team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The responsibilities of this role will cover monthly and quarterly US GAAP reporting, review of account reconciliations and support for global financial reporting processes. Everyday responsibilities include ensuring compliance during financial audits, as well as with SEC and SOX guidelines. This team will closely collaborate with other relevant stakeholders, including Finance, Legal, Operations, Tax, Consolidation Reporting, as well as external vendors. The Personnel Accounting Team is responsible for providing accounting support and validation for the Personnel spending across domestic WBD.In this role, you will report to the Director and lead a team of one/two Accountant/s some of which may be based offshore. You should have a solid understanding of US GAAP allowing you to identify, propose and coordinate with the Policy team to execute agreed upon accounting treatment for complex personnel matters. You will be a partner to multiple stakeholders, internal and external. The accounting manager candidate needs to be a self-starter and should be able to work well without constant supervision.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Oversees the day-to-day accounting activities of the team.
• Lead the team in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Accounting Managers will review complex entries and supporting documentation.
• Understand the stated policies around bonus compensation and severance accounting
• Given the sensitive nature of the information available to you, being able to maintain confidentially is a critical component of this role
• Timely review and approve account reconciliations, analysis, and fluxes.
• Perform cashflow analysis around bonuses, severance and employee benefits to provide to stakeholders as needed.
• Review and communicate detailed variance analyses to upper management.
• Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead special projects and proactively develop accurate ad hoc analyses for management to make informed decisions.
• Work closely with accounting policy team to evaluate complex accounting issues and recommend proper accounting treatment on these transactions.
• Work closely with external audit to support interim and year end audits.
• Responsible for ensuring proper internal controls are in place and all transactions are recorded timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP and established SOX requirements and procedures.
• Serve as a key contributor to the implementation of the new accounting platform SAP S/4 HANA.
• Serve as subject matter expert for existing systems and processes throughout integration and implementation efforts
• Build, foster, and maintain good working relationships with members of the Accounting Controllership, Finance business partners and stakeholders.
• The DTC Accounting Manager position will function as a critical team leader overseeing the relevant personnel expense reporting. Additional critical responsibilities include: leading and developing the team of staff and supervisor/manager through various priorities.
Qualifications & Experiences...
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or equivalent
• Experience in similar positions (6+ years) including managerial experience (4+ years).
• Sox controls and exposure to financial audits
• Ability to adapt to dynamic and uncertain environments (flexibility and prioritization).
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Great communication skills as this individual will be coordinating with stakeholders both domestically and internationally.
• Proficient in Excel and other MS tools.
• Abilities to develop interpersonal relationships.
Preferred
• Master's degree and/or CPA
• Personnel Accounting experience
• Keen attention to detail
• Track record of demonstrating process re-engineering to gain efficiency while not compromising process effectiveness
• Experience in Shared Business Services centers
• Experience in Media Industry, Big Four firms or global companies
• Experience in SAP/Peoplesoft or other ERP systems
• Experience in Hyperion, SmartView, EPM and other database tools
• Experience in Blackline/Cadency Certification
