Job Description
The Vox Media Revenue team, focused on digital advertising and marketing, has an Agency & Brand Strategy team function that is seeking a VP of Strategic Agency Partnerships to identify opportunities for, and execute on, additional partnerships at the holding company level and set team strategy, across all Vox Media lines of business. This team is responsible for building relationships with the largest agency holding companies to drive incremental revenue growth. The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of the modern media industry, understands the intricacies of the agency landscape, is well-connected with leaders across agencies and clients, the savviness to influence multiple levels of an organization (both ours and others), and demonstrates a proven ability to execute projects from conception to completion. This person may also have agency or consulting experience.

What you'll do:
• SET AGENCY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY & OPTIMIZE TOWARDS RIO:
• Leverage experience to create Agency Strategy across all holding companies
• Utilizing collection of tools, determine what is working both externally (creation rate cards, roadshows etc. and internally (processes with sales, marketing, etc.) for highest group performance
• Aid in tracking revenue performance across assigned agency portfolio to determine trends in Vox Media products and number of brands considered to develop corresponding strategy to help grow the business
• Run point of the creation of the packages and offers that will drive agency endeavours, partnerships and Upfronts
• Work with product, Concert, programmatic, creative services and other internal divisional heads to create offerings and strategy that service the agency endeavor & upfront need
• BUILD AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS
• Utilize existing, and develop new, relationships with key decision makers with holding company leadership like OMG, Publicis & IPG to uncover new opportunities - meetings, presentations, RFP's, and ultimately, investment/partnership
• Work with Directors to conduct internal and external Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR's) with assigned agencies
• CENTRALIZE AGENCY PERSPECTIVE
• Collect & analyze agency feedback, company priorities and more to provide marketplace perspective on the needs & focuses and help us better serve the agency community
• Extend invitations to key contacts to join/participate in Vox Media councils or events (like Bryant Park Movie nights, VultureFest and mor), to add value and let them experience our brands at the highest levels
• Work with vendors to secure targeted, incremental agency relationships
• Represent Vox Media in larger agency forums
• IDENTIFY WHITESPACE INSIDE AGENCIES TO DRIVE INCREMENTALLY
• Collaborate with agency groups most closely aligned with Vox Media internal priorities: audio/podcasting, video/Studios, content, eCommerce, etc. to explore partnerships
• Build long-term partnership packages that leverage Vox Media's full suite of brands, products, capabilities and organization
• Help Directors identify account teams currently not served or underserved by the larger Vox Media sales function, and add value (video, audio, etc)
• GET DEALS DONE
• Traditional holding company/agency deals: rate cards, endeavors, principal deals, upfronts
• Non-traditional agency partnerships: product-specific exclusivity, 360-degree activations, experiential partnerships, commerce/affiliate, joint DE&I/Sustainability initiatives, etc.
• REPRESENT YOUR HOLDING COMPANIES INTERNALLY
• Coordinate internal communication to lead agency prep, pulling out key areas of focus to guide more strategic conversations in support of new business proposals and pitches
• After external key agency meetings, streamline + quarterback next steps internally across functions to drive revenue impact
• LEAD BY EXAMPLE
• Create team accountability and set the standard for accountability by being both big picture and a string individual operator
• Share the values of the broader Vox Media community, including Diversity, Equity + Inclusion and our commitment to Sustainability

What you'll bring:
• 15+ years in the media industry with 8+ years of experience working on agency development as part of a sales organization, and/or working on an investment team at an agency or consultancy
• Proven track record of creating strong & executable consumer focused marketing ideas
• Existing high-level relationships with agency leads and industry organizations (preferably with OMG, IPG & Publicis)
• Perspective on unique agency buying models and on a range of digital ad products including
• video, native/branded & deep knowledge of programmatic
• Experience networking and ability to uncover opportunity through diverse engagement touch points
• Ability to work in a high-growth, resource light environment
• Strategic leader with a track record of leading innovative monetization schemes
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills & relationship orientation for collaborative problem solving
