Job Description

The Editorial team is at the core of everything New York Magazine does. Our six verticals and award-winning magazine strike the perfect balance of content that's smart and funny so that our readers know everything they need to navigate urban life and the fast-moving culture, whether that's politics, culture, food, shopping, or style trends. Editors aim to create stories and magazine events that are sharp, provocative, memorable, useful, and, at turns, both playful and serious.

At New York, we view newsletters as a unique storytelling platform that helps us connect with our most loyal readers. Our newsletters run the gamut from daily digests of top stories to standalone editorial products, and we are actively expanding our offerings. The Newsletter Editor will oversee a slate of existing newsletters, while also pitching and developing new concepts.

What you'll do:
• Curate, edit, produce, and deploy a variety of newsletters
• Collaborate with other editors to produce and deploy specialty newsletters
• Monitor performance and analytics for a slate of titles, proactively suggesting improvements, new features/rubrics, and A/B tests
• Collaborate with the social team to help promote newsletters in creative ways
• Pitch new newsletter ideas
• Project manage the launch of new newsletters
• Collaborate with analytics and consumer revenue teams on new email initiatives

What you'll bring:
• 3-5 years editorial experience
• Excitement for the newsletter as a distinct journalistic medium
• A clear writer with strong line editing skills
• A knack for writing eye-catching subject lines and display copy
• An unflappable multi-tasker who can juggle daily deadlines with longer-term projects
• Detail-oriented with a copy editor's eye for formatting errors
• Understanding of audience engagement and growth strategies
• Familiarity with New York's editorial tone and coverage areas
• Familiarity with email analytics and ESPs is a plus, but not required
