Job Description
The Capitol CMG finance team is looking to fill a Staff Accountant role to support the reporting, forecasting and decision support functions of the global leader in Christian Music. This exciting role provides opportunities to contribute within the financial planning and analysis function of a very dynamic finance team.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for core financial reporting functions. The responsibilities of this role are to create and maintain general ledger transactions and account analysis, review financial statements, own the local travel and entertainment accounting, and be the local internal control representative. Therefore, the candidate will require proven accounting experience, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and strong communication/collaboration skills

How you'll CREATE:
• Maintain general ledger integrity by preparing journal entries and reclassifications related to sundry billing, non-labor overheads, and other expenses in accordance with GAAP and UMG accounting policies and procedures
• Highlight and explain significant variances and non-routine transactions during the close process
• Own the local travel and entertainment accounting workflow including auditing local employee expense reports for compliance to global travel policy, training employees on expense report preparation and communicating with regional/global teams as issues arise
• Own local accounts payable system, workflows and liaise with regional teams when invoice and payment issues arise
• Own the processing of all local Sundry Billing receivables and liaise with central accounting team for the proper general ledger treatment in accordance with UMG accounting policy
• Lead the team in SOX Controls Compliance testing and implementation including coordinating with external and internal auditors and our local Control Owners
• Assist in the compilation, preparation, and issuance of all monthly/quarterly/yearly reporting packets to internal departments and key personnel on a timely basis
• Assist in the preparation and issuance of profit participation and distributed label statements and payments in accordance with contractual obligations and UMG accounting policies
• Assist in preparing and updating quarterly and yearly Forecasts as it relates to non-labor Overheads for both Publishing and Record Marketing entities
• Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all key job functions that are both current and complete
• Act as the local liaison with the UMG finance operations teams
• Other duties as assigned

Bring your VIBE:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• C.P.A. or Master's Degree is considered a plus
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with a music/entertainment company
• Experience actively participating in key aspects of the financial close and forecasting
• Exposure to an environment where internal controls are a high priority
• Proven financial system experience (preferably in SAP, BPC and HFM)
• Must be able to meet demands of a fast paced and dynamic environment with tight deadlines
• Strong financial systems skills and proficient with Microsoft Office (including advanced MS Excel)
• Proven high level of organization and attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Driven by accuracy of results.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and flexible personality
• Ability to work independently
• Intellectual curiosity and solid business acumen
