Job Description

As Radio Plugger, the successful applicant will be responsible for working on & leading national & regional radio campaigns across the Decca roster.

Skills & Experience

Be Operational
• Responsible for working on & leading radio campaigns across the breadth of the Decca roster. Focussing across National, Regional & Online / Community radio as well as their online platforms (such as BBC Sounds)
• Responsible for updating weekly Radio reports and feeding back to management and label – always explaining strategies and next moves
• To thoroughly plan, setup & cover all radio sessions / interviews / tours / live radio events. Working closely with artists' teams
• Attending weekly Decca label & planning meetings & communicating radio strategy to the wider label & management

Be Collaborative
• To build & maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with DJs, radio producers and music teams across all areas of Radio to ensure Decca and its artists are always at the front of their minds, with continual and useful communication
• Attending Plugging appointments & communicating regularly via email & in-person to keep key radio contacts up to speed on each of our relevant artists
• Including building a network of contacts across specialist Classical & Jazz Radio stations – such as Classic FM, Scala, Radio 3, Jazz FM etc.
• Work closely as a team with the rest of the Radio department - & the wider Promo team - to initiate and deliver the best, most effective campaigns possible. Thinking 'outside of the box'' and presenting exciting and unique opportunities wherever possible
• Building solid relationships with artist managers & maintaining clear & open communication throughout a campaign
• Getting key radio contacts to see live gigs / events / showcases / dinners, when required
• Building & maintaining close working relationships within the label – particularly with Marketing & A&R to ensure we can best represent our artists at radio. Including liaising on timelines / radio edits / mixes etc
• Representation of Decca at external Radio / Music Industry events
• Meeting potential new Artist signings and Management when required

Be Strategic
• Putting together strong & dynamic strategies and campaigns to introduce, grow & establish artist & label profile on radio. Including Airplay / Playlists / Promo / Online coverage
• Keep themselves up to date with the ever-changing landscape at Radio & wider Music Industry including Radio stations continued expansion into online / streaming - updating senior label management on new stations / shows / DJ's & potential opportunities for our artists.
• Identifying & understanding new and exciting ways to engage Radio for new, established acts and returning acts - looking for interesting ways to use exclusives and promo activities for maximum mileage wherever possible and financially viable

Person Specification
• Experience in similar promotional role with a track record of successfully devising (or assisting with) strategies for records
• Experience in pitching new and up-and-coming acts to radio (individually or as part of a team)
• Proven ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and external contacts, existing relationships with radio stations advantageous
• Excellent organisational skills & ability
• Understanding of costs, logistical requirements and details involved in radio promotions
• Understanding of the UK radio landscape, UK music industry and the current marketplace
• Ability to identify opportunities, assess risks and make calculated decisions to further the progress of campaigns
• Good written and verbal communication skills with people at all levels
• Diligent with a strong attention to detail, highly organised and flexible with excellent co-ordination/administration skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Ability to think quickly and remain calm in challenging situations
• Willing to work outside of contracted work hours for gigs / promo / events on occasion – including some late nights and work at the weekend
