The A Side: A Day in The Life

Spinnup is Universal Music’s digital distribution platform. Artists use our platform to distribute their music to global services like Spotify and Apple Music.

We have a rare opportunity for a full-stack web developer to join our small, friendly and dynamic team. Your contributions will help talented new musicians upload their music, monitor their streaming, sales and social media performance, promote themselves online and manage their catalogue. We are looking for a good communicator, quick learner, someone who enjoys sharing skills and can work independently. Above all, someone who is committed and passionate about providing top-class products for our users.

The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be Technical
• Designing and developing new features, both frontend and backend
• Investigating and resolving defects

Be Operational
• Estimating and planning development tasks
• Identifying and implementing improvements for reliability, scalability and performance

Be Collaborative
• Helping to assure the quality of other team members’ code
• Working collaboratively to tackle complex problems and make decisions

Personal Specification
Necessary
• Experience of using Git (CLI)
• Experience using PHP7 and either Laravel or Symfony
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and relational databases
• JavaScript framework – strong preference for React.JS and Redux
• Knowledge of Webpack & SCSS
• Knowledge of responsive concepts and how to implement them
• Good understanding of current and emerging trends of the web platform
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching others
• Ability to learn and contribute very quickly

Desirable
• AWS experience
• Docker experience
• Experience with modern JavaScript testing, debugging and automation techniques
• Appreciation of good UX and design and an ability to contribute ideas to their improvement
• Desire to work in the music industry
