The Job
Assoc BIT System Administrator

The Daily
• This server/networking professional provides maintenance, installation and support for Unix, Linux and Mac OS X based servers & networks used by the local offices/bureaus.
• May monitor and maintain data, voice, and LAN infrastructure, and act as an auxiliary production support professional for a 24x7x365 news production environment.
• Demonstrate skills and experience providing technical support in a networked computing environment is required, as well as basic familiarity with broadcast production systems.
• Position may include some designing, coding, testing, implementation, and support of custom software applications for the local bureau/office.
• To have the ability to troubleshoot production issues that impact our on-air environment.
• This person should have the ability to coordinate support activities among all impacted teams. And communicates production status to customers.

The Essentials
• Demonstrate knowledge of Unix/Linux Systems Administration
• Experience with Redhat / CentOS / Debian Solid Scripting skills in PERL or UNIX shell variants.
• Demonstrated expierence of standard networking protocols, computing operating systems, & LAN/WAN topology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP Networking Concepts (DNS, DHCP, etc.).
• Experience with web servers such as Apache and Iplanet preferred
• Demonstrated fluency with NFS, SMB, and FTP file services
• Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of the LAMP stack
• Provide 24 x 7 On-Call Support and Remote Troubleshooting
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to learn new skills quickly
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server + and Advanced Server, OSX, Snow Leopard, Microsoft Exchange email system software, and UNIX
• Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PERL/PHP/Python).
