You will be part of the Global Developer Platform team, which delivers the tools, services, governance and support developers use at Ticketmaster to build, test, secure, and deploy to our fans and clients.
Join our data platform team and become an integral core member of a group supporting the world's largest ticketing system. We are continuing to build a new generation of tools to manage and operate various databases and data stream platforms in AWS Cloud and OnPrem with an ''infrastructure as code'' mindset. We use a range of RDBMS, NoSQL, and data streaming technologies running on both private and public cloud infrastructures, powering the world's largest ticketing system and serving 400 million customers. Principal Engineer II -- Data Platform Architect
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Responsible for the technical aspects of ensuring our Kafka/data streaming infrastructure is highly available, sustainable, performant, cost-effective, and usable.
• Work closely with different partnerships, such as software developers, PMO, operations leadership, architecture, chief engineers, security engineers, and PMO, to deliver a highly available, secure data streaming service.
• Collaborate with the Kafka team to design, build, and lead continuous improvement of the reliability and performance of existing data stream platforms.
• Participate in on-call duties and respond to critical events in a timely manner.
• Evaluate user demands, requirements, and growth of the data stream services, and provide solutions to meet departmental goals.
• Participate in and maintain the onboarding procedure, self-service tools, security hardening, and agnostic monitoring solutions for the existing platform. Define the success metrics and measure success.
• Promote data streaming services and provide consulting services to the engineering team to leverage the right technology for using our data streaming services.
• Practice and apply engineering principles in day-to-day work (Scrum and Agile).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)
• 5+ years of experience designing, managing, operating, and scaling data streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka, Confluent Kafka, AWS Kinesis , RedPanda or RabbitMQ.
• Expert understanding of Kafka internals and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years of experience with one of high-level programming language in a software engineering (Python, Ruby, Java, Django, or Go)
• 5+ years of experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management (Ansible, SaltStack, Terraform, Puppet, Chef ), can orchestrate and automate complex administrative tasks.
• Strong understanding of Linux OS and Networking in a distributed environment.
• Proficiency in git, git workflow and CI/CD pipeline. Experience of Crossplane, ArgoCD with Kubernete deployment will be a plus.
• Strong expertise in designing and developing API based systems (REST) and integrations involving (REST/SOAP APIs, Pub/Sub and messaging systems)
• Demonstrated Agile/Scrum experience as part of a team

The expected compensation for this position is:
$200,000.00 USD - $250,000.00 USD
** Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
