THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our organization as a Sr. Manager, Legal Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the eBilling processes for our global legal functions, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in the invoicing and payment procedures. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in legal operations, specifically managing eBilling operations and systems, managing law firm and vendor relationships, and developing and implementing outside counsel guidelines and rate and fee arrangement negotiations.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

eBilling System Management:
• Oversee and manage the eBilling system used by global legal teams
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external law firms to onboard, train and drive compliance with our eBilling platform and processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to the eBilling system
• Collaborate with legal teams to resolve billing discrepancies or questions

Budgeting and Reporting:
• Assist in the maintenance of the Corporate legal department's budget
• Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to reconcile billing information and resolve discrepancies
• Create and manage a robust financial reporting protocol, including running monthly reports on spending and billing trends, maintaining dashboards, and designing new dashboards
• Identify cost-saving opportunities & prepare presentations to share results
• Analyze key billing and matter data sets to perform comparative analytics and trends across functional activities

Vendor Management:
• Maintain relationships with external law firms and legal service providers
• Own process and lead negotiations of law firm rate increase proposals
• Drive Outside Counsel Billing Term acknowledgement process with firms
• Create protocol and standardize tracking of conflicts waivers

Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate the eBilling process
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements
• Develop and update standard operating procedures for eBilling and related processes
• Develop playbooks on fee arrangements, discounts, and other data to act as resources when auditing portfolio of outside counsel/vendors

This role may assist with other Legal Operations initiatives as time permits.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
• 7+ years' experience with in-house or law firm departments managing eBilling and pricing arrangements with clients or firms
• Strong Legal eBilling platform experience (preferably Brightflag)
• Financial management experience (specifically, budgeting, accruals, matter management, and financial reporting)
• Expert Excel skills (pivot tables, vLookup, etc…)
• Strong negotiation skills; experience with law firm rate agreements
• Experience working in law firm pricing, consulting, finance, or sales operations a plus
• Familiarity with legal billing practices, billing guidelines, and fee arrangement
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex billing data accurately
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
