THE JOB:

In the role of Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the development and design of entire application components and leading team projects. While working independently with minimal supervision, you will rely on your wide range of experience and technical expertise to propose new solutions and ideas, and to foster relationships with peers in different teams and offices.

You will represent the team as a technical expert and work closely with the Product Manager on feature requirements and planning. Important components of this role include anticipating team needs, guiding and mentoring individuals , influencing the culture and driving continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Design robust, highly scalable architecture with solid monitoring and alerting capabilities
• Define strategy to maintain and scale application services
• Automate testing, deployments, performance, and recovery
• Ensure high quality through automated tests
• Interact with Product Manager and other internal development teams
• Mentor senior and junior engineers in software design and architectural patterns
• Help coordinate and distribute work amongst the team
• Inspire fellow developers by providing new ideas or concepts
• Lead and support the team
• Help stakeholders translate ideas into technical solutions
• Help explain technical issues to business and product stakeholders for prioritization
• Seek to build relationships and partnerships with other teams

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)
• Extensive experience in software engineering
• Extensive experience designing and implementing highly-available APIs
• Fluency with Agile methodologies
• Superb backend development skills and knowledge of data structures
• Experience with modern Java frameworks like Spring
• Strong experience in DevOps, Kubernetes, and various AWS services
• Proven experience with streaming platforms like Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis
• Experience working in an SOA development environment
• Expertise designing RESTful interfaces
• Ability to model data accurately and define effective representative schemas
• Experience working NodeJS and Javascript
• Working knowledge of multiple database products (e.g. NoSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Mongo, DynamoDB)
