THE TEAM
Core Data Services team is at the center of Data and Analytics initiatives. We are building a modern data platform to support enterprise data needs. We are building a highly functional, performant modern enterprise Data Lake while supporting our current data platforms. We focus on creating trusted, usable data assets in an environment that enables LNE teams to drive value for fans and our business. This is what defines us as a Core Data Services Team.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Data Security to lead a team dedicated to ensuring the protection of our data assets. You will be responsible for managing a team of security professionals, defining security strategies, and enhancing robust security frameworks for our Databricks platform and SQL databases on AWS. This is a high-impact role requiring a mix of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strategic thinking. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data security, good experience with cloud data platforms, and a passion for driving security initiatives. As a key leader, you will collaborate cross-functionally with other security teams and product teams to ensure the success of our security initiatives.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
• Build and lead a high-performing data security team ensuring comprehensive coverage across all areas of data security.
• Define the team's structure, roles, and responsibilities to address key security domains, including data governance, access control, incident response, compliance, and cloud security.
• Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the data security program, aligning with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and enforce user access policies to manage access patterns on sensitive data within Databricks and other data platforms, ensuring adherence to least privilege principles.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR, CPRA, and industry standards like SOC 2 and ISO 27001..
• Oversee the security of Databricks and other data infrastructure, including IAM (Identity and Access Management), encryption, and secure configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed security best practices into data pipelines, data ingestion services and workflows.
• Conduct regular security audits and reviews of access controls, token usage, and configuration settings.
• Establish monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect and respond to security incidents and unusual data access or egress in real-time.
• Lead the design and implementation of an incident response plan to address and mitigate data breaches effectively.
• Work with third-party vendors to conduct regular penetration tests and ensure vulnerabilities are identified and addressed.
• Stay updated on advanced threat detection techniques and implement tools or processes to proactively identify potential threats.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, regulators, and partners on data security matters.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors and partners to ensure robust security integrations and compliance in joint initiatives.
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in data security, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Expertise in securing data platforms, specifically Databricks and AWS.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
• Hands-on experience with database security, data access controls, IAM, encryption, token management, cloud security, and security monitoring tools.
• Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

The expected compensation for this position is:
$176,000.00 USD - $220,000.00 USD
** Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
